Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays , the population rate increase and we have limited land or natural resources. Thus we build tall apartments in large cities , Where maximum people can live in one surface area.

To begin with, in large cities numerous area is cover by industry and different company. Therefore the area percentage will steadily reduce. While the population rate escalate day by day. At present , most of the individuals are working . So they need the basic requirement like home. Moreover, its not easy to give each citizens to proper land with large area. Hence , the landlord construct tall apartments . Where minimum 10 to 15 family easily survive. This idea gives more benefit to the owner and they can take the profit. So, we solve the big problem of modern society. Apartments gives sufficient area to live and build your relationship to others.

In addition, there some drawbacks are also we face. For instance, in Delhi the apartments build very rapidly, whereas people can not take natural air , sometimes sunlight also not get to every home perfectly. Like we always feel unsafe from natural disasters ,for example earthquake . Due to this problem the complete building destroy within seconds. On the other hand landlord sell these apartments with very costly price. Because they know here all people come for works, so they must buy the block. While middle class family citizens face the overrated home .

In conclusion, for my perspective this is a best idea ,where maximum people live in one place. Although the we don't have area in cities ,it solves many citizens problems.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the advantages and disadvantages of tall apartment blocks. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. While you mention benefits like space efficiency and drawbacks like safety concerns and high costs, these points are not fully extended or supported with sophisticated reasoning. The position is clear, but the argument lacks the depth required for a higher band. To improve, ensure that each point is supported by a clear explanation or a more detailed example, rather than just stating the idea. The conclusion is brief and could more effectively summarize the main arguments presented in the body paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, 'Thus' and 'Hence' are used frequently but sometimes in ways that do not logically connect the preceding and following ideas. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'Where maximum people can live', where the connection to the previous sentence is weak. Paragraphing is present, but the transition between the benefits and the drawbacks could be smoother to create a more cohesive flow of information throughout the essay.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range expected at higher levels. There is a reliance on basic terms like 'big problem', 'very costly', and 'good idea'. Some word choices are awkward or incorrect, such as 'maximum people' instead of 'a large number of people' or 'overrated home' when you likely meant 'overpriced'. There are also issues with word forms, such as 'landlord construct' instead of 'landlords construct'. To improve, focus on using more academic collocations and precise terminology related to urban planning and housing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('the population rate increase', 'apartments build'), missing articles ('in Delhi the apartments build'), and incorrect preposition usage. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas and periods. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and article usage would significantly improve the clarity of your writing.
