Student answer (Band 6.0)
In recent years, the population has been rapidly increasing all around the world. It is widely believed that this issue has significantly intensified and is leading pressure on government to address this problem. Some individuals suggest that building tower blocks in large cities is a beneficial step to tackle the housing shortage. I firmly agree with this perspective. In this essay, we will discuss some reasons that support my opinion.
On the one hand, high-rise buildings occupy a small land and provide numerous homes in a limited area. For instance, due to high population, finite land is available in urban areas. In addition, another benefit is that living in flats brings a variety of positive impacts. A friendly environment bridges the gap between citizens of distinct backgrounds or cultures. Especially in the technology-driven world were convenience from robots or social media makes face-to-face interaction less frequent, multi-story residential complexes reduce this lack.
Furthermore, more land can be reserved for essential facilities such as education, hospitals, malls ad business development. This will improve the economic situation of a country. Moreover, high-rise blocks are frequently affordable and close to workplaces where public transport makes travel more convenient, it leads to a better lifestyle and quality of life. For example, people understand each other, share daily routines with each other, and spend effective time which results in an improvement in health and social life.
In conclusion, from my point of view, in urbanization, a substantial amount of houses are constructed, for more residents constructing tall apartments is an advantageous way. The policy maker should focus on this enhancement for resolving this challenge.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have clearly stated your position in the introduction and maintained it throughout the essay. The response addresses the prompt by discussing the benefits of high-rise buildings, such as land efficiency and social interaction. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While you mention that high-rise living improves social life, the link between 'tower blocks' and 'social interaction' is not fully explained or supported with concrete evidence. To reach a higher band, ensure that every point is fully extended with specific examples or logical reasoning rather than general statements. Overall, the task is addressed, but the depth of analysis could be improved to move beyond general assertions.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. You use cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand,' 'Furthermore,' and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the flow between sentences within paragraphs could be smoother. For instance, the transition from discussing land use to social interaction in the second paragraph is a bit abrupt. Additionally, the use of referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the final paragraph where the connection between 'urbanization' and the conclusion is slightly disjointed. Improving the variety and naturalness of your linking words will enhance the overall flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'urbanization,' 'finite land,' and 'residential complexes.' There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'leading pressure' instead of 'placing pressure' and 'occupy a small land' instead of 'occupy a small amount of land.' You also have a few minor errors, such as 'ad' instead of 'and.' While you attempt to use some less common vocabulary, the precision is not always consistent. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and ensuring that words are used in their correct grammatical context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this level. However, there are several grammatical errors that occasionally affect the clarity of your writing. For example, 'where convenience from robots... makes face-to-face interaction less frequent' contains a spelling error ('were' instead of 'where') and a slightly awkward phrasing. There are also issues with subject-verb agreement and article usage, such as 'the policy maker' (should be plural) and 'a substantial amount of houses' (should be 'number of'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they occur frequently enough to limit your score in this criterion.
