Student answer (Band 6.0)
I agree High rise buildings are the best and most efficient way to deal with housing for the residents of a country. If the architecture is integral it would solve a flurry of housing problems that are faced by majority nations in the world.
Not only do the apartments create a sense of equality in space infrastructure and basic necessities of life it is also easier to maintain. Any problem that arises will have been dealt by before. There is also a basis of needs for example an elderly couple can reside in a lower level in the building which will be more convenient for them for daily life. Opposingly a young and rich family can have higher floor apartments which have a better view.
Although the thought of having an entire house with multiple stories and a garden is a norm in my country. To be honest it does give you a sense of ownership and privacy that high rise buildings fail to. You're in a more comfortable environment that you can adjust and adapt according to your needs.
So coming to the conclusion yes high rise buildings are more convenient, feasible and provide a more sustainable future which could could develop and shape the life's of our future generations. On the contrary a house to yourself is more of a luxury which gives you the pleasure and peace to a daily life. It makes everyday life more easier and worth it. You don't have to stay in a confined space and have more freedom to everyday life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a position, but the development of ideas is inconsistent. While you mention that high-rise buildings are efficient, the supporting arguments are somewhat superficial. For instance, the claim that 'any problem that arises will have been dealt by before' is vague and lacks logical support. Furthermore, the essay lacks a clear, cohesive argument; you oscillate between supporting high-rises and then detailing the benefits of individual houses in the third and fourth paragraphs, which makes your final position feel contradictory rather than balanced. To improve, ensure each paragraph directly supports your main thesis and provides concrete examples or logical explanations for your claims.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is disjointed. The transition between the benefits of high-rises and the benefits of individual houses is abrupt. While you use some cohesive devices like 'Not only', 'Although', and 'On the contrary', their usage is sometimes mechanical or logically confusing. For example, starting the conclusion with 'So coming to the conclusion' is unnecessary and slightly informal. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the phrase 'it would solve a flurry of housing problems', where the antecedent for 'it' is slightly ambiguous. Improving the logical flow between sentences and using more sophisticated linking words would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You use some basic phrases like 'best and most efficient way' and 'flurry of housing problems'. There are also some awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'architecture is integral' (which is unclear in this context) and 'Opposingly' (which is not standard usage). To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and collocations, such as 'urban density', 'sustainable development', or 'architectural design', rather than relying on general descriptors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'dealt by before' (should be 'dealt with'), 'life's of our future generations' (incorrect use of apostrophe), and 'more easier' (double comparative). There are also issues with punctuation and sentence boundaries, such as the run-on sentence in the conclusion. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and avoiding redundant comparative structures.
