Student answer (Band 5.5)

it is often argued that the most effective way to provide sufficient housing in large cities is to construct tall apartment buildings. I completely agree with this view , because high rise buildings can accommodate more people while making better use of limited urban land .

One of the major advantage of constructing tall buildings is , it can provide sufficient living lifestyle for those families who have kids and poor earning to purchase their own property . As, prices of land are increasing day by day and currently on it's peak. Furthermore, by living in apartments it can save enough land space for development of city by making more hospitals, schools, and more green gardens which can make the city more modern and advance. For example - cities like Mumbai is focusing to shift the lifestyle of individuals to well furnished apartments and use few of land for development of city by making roads, schools, and hospitals .

On the other hand, government should to focus on better and comfortable life of citizens. while the are living in building blocks. They should to provide proper infrastructure to people in moderate prices and make some small greenery area in their balcony where some fresh air can pass through in whole apartment. By which family can live properly. In addition, policy makers can also make some rules in living in building blocks, by which other family can also live without any kind of disturbance.

In conclusion, I believe that living in apartments can make the lifestyle more better and comfortable. Moreover, High authorities should also focus on living lifestyle of families in apartments by giving them proper facilities.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The arguments regarding land efficiency and urban development are relevant. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited; for instance, the point about 'living lifestyle' for families is vague and lacks depth. The example of Mumbai is relevant but could be better integrated to support the argument more persuasively. The response covers all parts of the task, but the supporting points are somewhat repetitive and lack the sophistication required for a higher band. Overall, the ideas are clear but could be extended with more specific reasoning or evidence.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion' are used to link ideas, although some transitions feel a bit mechanical. Referencing is generally clear, though there are minor issues with sentence-level flow, such as the awkward phrasing in the second paragraph ('As, prices of land are increasing...'). Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the main arguments, contributing to the overall coherence of the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their opinion clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'accommodate' and 'infrastructure', but the range is somewhat limited. There are also noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'provide sufficient living lifestyle' and 'make some small greenery area'. These errors do not impede communication, but they highlight a lack of precision. To improve, the student should focus on more natural collocations and avoid repetitive phrasing like 'living lifestyle'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement and article usage, such as 'One of the major advantage' (should be 'advantages') and 'government should to focus' (should be 'should focus'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary commas appearing frequently, such as after 'view' and 'is'. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the message, they are frequent enough to limit the score. More attention to basic grammatical rules and sentence construction is needed.
