Student answer (Band 5.0)
I agree that the building of tall apartment blocks is the best way to provide enough homes in the large cities.Actually, when the population in cities increases there become less space for many of the people to live there life easily.Firstly, most of the people are form many of the rural areas and their prospect to leave their hometown is mostly the work and they live in big cities to full fill their basic needs. Moreover in these rushy cities they found no place to live .For that reason i think building tall apartment is the best choice .Secondly ,due to the more workplaces and then increasing population is also one of the other reason .Furthermore, it will consume less space and acamodate more human beings.in my opinion it is the best way to cover the flaws of cities because with the passage of time the main locations are becoming more and more busy so for that purpose more and more places and required .In last line i will say that it will be the good choice if the country starts working in it.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 182 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas, as the arguments remain superficial and lack sufficient supporting examples or depth. While you state a clear position in the introduction, the supporting points are repetitive and under-developed. To improve, you must expand on your reasoning by providing specific examples or hypothetical scenarios to justify why tall apartment blocks are the 'best' solution compared to alternatives like urban sprawl or infrastructure development. The conclusion is also very brief and does not effectively summarize the main points.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into a basic structure, but the paragraphing is ineffective. The entire body of the essay is presented as a single block, which makes it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of ideas. While you use some cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'Moreover', and 'Furthermore', they are sometimes used mechanically or inappropriately. The logical flow is hindered by the lack of clear topic sentences and the repetitive nature of the arguments. To improve, ensure each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed idea and use a wider variety of linking words to connect your thoughts more naturally.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. You rely on basic terms such as 'big cities', 'more and more', and 'good choice'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'rushy cities' (which is not standard English) and 'leave their hometown' (where 'leave' is used incorrectly in context). Spelling errors like 'acamodate' and 'full fill' further detract from the quality of the writing. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensuring correct spelling and word formation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('population... increases there become less space'), article usage ('the building of tall apartment blocks' is often unnecessary), and punctuation errors (missing spaces after commas). Sentence structure is often awkward, such as 'their prospect to leave their hometown is mostly the work'. These errors occasionally impede the flow of communication. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like subject-verb agreement and article placement.
