Student answer (Band 6.0)
In the modern world, rapid population growth and highly crowded cities cause residence shortages, And people should decide what type of residence would be more suitable to alleviate this problem.some people believe that tall apartment blocks would be the best way to provide enough homes in large cities.although tall apartments can cause inconvenience and concern, I agree that it will remain the best option for several reasons.
On the one hand, living in apartment offers a restricted space and inconvenience compared to single private houses. The condition such as a connection between all apartments and an absence of private courtyards will result in less private and more noisy life.as a result, People who prefer solitude and peaceful environment can choose single private house. Moreover, the higher apartment, the more dangerous it is in the case of natural disasters and unexpected accidents. Tall blocks are often vulnerable and the chance of successfully evacuating is low compared to single private houses.
On the other hand, Single houses are less environmentally friendly and less effective way to provide a home for all people. Building small private houses will cover more space which results in the reduced wildlife habitat, creating environmental problems.
in my opinion, accurately planned and high quality tall apartment blocks could create convenient environment while providing all people with enough homes. Building a large amounts of single private house will demand more resources and space, which is less adequate option.
In conclusion,i agree that the best way to provide enough homes in large cities is to build tall apartment blocks,as preserving resources is essential and high quality apartments will create a convenient and safe environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. You have presented arguments for both sides, acknowledging the drawbacks of tall apartment blocks while ultimately supporting them as the most sustainable solution. The ideas are relevant and generally well-developed, particularly the environmental argument regarding land use. To reach a higher band, ensure that your supporting points are fully extended; for instance, the point about natural disasters could be more thoroughly explored with specific examples or a more nuanced explanation of modern building safety standards to strengthen your argument.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use transition signals such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader. However, the cohesion is sometimes mechanical, and there are issues with sentence-level punctuation that occasionally disrupt the flow. For example, the lack of capitalization after periods and the inconsistent use of commas make the progression feel slightly disjointed. Improving the variety of cohesive devices and ensuring standard punctuation will help the ideas flow more naturally.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'alleviate', 'solitude', 'vulnerable', and 'wildlife habitat'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'residence shortages' (housing shortages) and 'less adequate option'. Additionally, the repetition of 'single private house' suggests a limited range of synonyms. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and varying your vocabulary to avoid repetitive phrasing. The errors present do not impede communication, but they do limit the sophistication of your expression.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation. Common issues include missing articles (e.g., 'living in apartment'), capitalization errors (e.g., 'as a result, People'), and subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'a large amounts of'). While these errors rarely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical conventions, such as capitalization, article usage, and pluralization, which will significantly enhance the clarity and professionalism of your writing.
