Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is becoming increasingly difficult in urban areas to provide sufficient housing because of the growing population. Some people believe that constructing tall apartments blocks is one of the best solution. I completely agree with this approach.
One of the main reason to support this argument is that multifloor complexes makes most of out of limited land. Largely populated city has limited and expensive land. By building multiple floors in a apartment a lot of families can stay in a small piece of land. For example, largely dense city like Mumbai or Delhi where alot of people comes from rural area for work. Apartment would provide sufficient housing for them rather than conventional houses.
Another advantage of mulifloor apartments is that, they provide alot of facilities to their residence. For instance these development projects has in house grocery store, gym and
recreational areas which reduce people's reliance on private vehicles for daily tasks. As a result, there may be less traffic congestion on roads and therefore less carbon emission. In addition living in same residencial area gives people more chance to interact with neighoburs.
However, I think that conventional homes has their own benifets. They provide more space and privacy and much more suitable for joint families. Government should focus more on providing facilities like healthcare and public transport rather than relying on one form of housing.
In conclusion, building vertical apartments are best solution to provide housing for large number of citizens. But other form of housing should also be availabe in major cities .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of tall apartment blocks. The ideas are relevant, such as land efficiency and the provision of amenities, which are well-linked to the topic of urban housing. However, the development is somewhat uneven. The argument regarding the benefits of conventional homes in the third paragraph slightly contradicts the initial 'complete agreement' stance, making the position feel inconsistent. To reach a higher band, ensure that counter-arguments are integrated more smoothly into the main argument rather than appearing as a sudden shift in perspective.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central theme. Cohesive devices such as 'One of the main reasons', 'For instance', and 'In addition' are used to guide the reader. However, there are instances where the flow is slightly mechanical, and some referencing is unclear, such as the incomplete sentence at the end of the second paragraph. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but the transition between the support for apartments and the mention of conventional homes could be more sophisticated to improve the overall logical progression.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task, covering topics like urban planning and social interaction. There are several spelling errors, such as 'residencial', 'neighoburs', and 'benifets', which are distracting. Additionally, some word choices are imprecise, such as 'largely populated city' instead of 'densely populated city'. While the student attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary, the frequency of spelling and collocation errors limits the score. Improving accuracy in basic spelling and common collocations would significantly enhance the quality of the writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'multifloor complexes makes', 'conventional homes has') and pluralization (e.g., 'one of the best solution'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing commas and an incomplete sentence structure in the second paragraph. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to suggest a lack of control over complex structures. Focusing on proofreading for basic agreement and verb forms would be beneficial.
