Student answer (Band 5.5)
In today's time frame where large urban areas have a high density of population .Due to the high density of population they face scarcity of homes in urban areas. Some individuals suggest that the best way to provide enough homes in large urban area is to construct high-rise buildings. I believe that constructing high-rise buildings would provide enough homes in urban areas. In addition, states like Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore are counted under the biggest metropolis with high density of population. A large number of population migrate every year from other states to these states in search of employment ;as a result these metropolis get over-crowded and face scarcity of homes. Furthermore, some individual job seekers are living in shared apartments because of lack of space to live.
However, constructing high-rise buildings would help numerous individuals by providing enough space to stay along with their family members. Because of these new buildings the metropolis look more sophisticated and attractive. Furthermore the new flats will be sold out soon because of their high demand in the market. To conclude, build high-rise apartments in urban areas could be a beneficial decision for numerous job seekers who migrate from their homeland into the other states in search of employment. Moreover, the sophisticated image of metropolis states will rise gradually and other states also will get inspired by these urban areas. Thus from my point of view it's a beneficial idea for people and by building new apartments makes an area look more developed and attractive

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear position in favor of high-rise buildings. However, the development of ideas is limited. While you mention population density and migration in cities like Delhi and Mumbai, the arguments remain somewhat repetitive and lack depth. For instance, you mention that high-rises make a city look 'sophisticated' twice, but you do not explore other critical factors such as infrastructure, cost-effectiveness, or the social impact of high-density living. To reach a higher band, you should provide more nuanced reasoning and perhaps acknowledge counter-arguments to create a more balanced and comprehensive discussion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical. You use some cohesive devices like 'Furthermore' and 'In addition,' but these are sometimes used repetitively or in ways that do not fully connect the ideas logically. The transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs is abrupt. Additionally, the referencing is sometimes unclear; for example, the phrase 'these metropolis' is used repeatedly, which makes the writing feel slightly circular. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for a higher band. You rely on basic terms like 'high density of population' and 'enough homes' multiple times. While you attempt some academic vocabulary such as 'metropolis' and 'sophisticated,' the usage is sometimes slightly unnatural or repetitive. There are also minor errors in word choice, such as 'metropolis states' (which is redundant) and 'homeland' (which is not the most appropriate term for moving between states within a country). To improve, focus on using synonyms and more precise collocations related to urban planning and housing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Common issues include missing articles (e.g., 'in search of employment'), incorrect pluralization (e.g., 'these metropolis' instead of 'these metropolises'), and punctuation errors, such as the misplaced semicolon in the first paragraph. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of consistent control over complex structures limits the score. To improve, pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, and try to vary your sentence structure with more complex clauses.
