Student answer (Band 4.5)

In crowded cities with high population, the best way to provide houses for them is to build high appartements buildings, from my perspective, i totally agree with this idea.

Providing for a large number of people homes in large cities can be challenging, however, it is beleived that building high buildings can be beneficial, as an exemple, a 10 story building equipped with a lift can reach a capacity of more than 150 person and will be helpful.

Moreover, cities eventhough are known for having lot of amneties such as schools, universities, hospitals, cinemas, they don't have a very large space to build for each family a 2 story building, therfore if the gouvernement won't use that space smartly they would face some issues, so building higher than usual will not only be helpful for the community but also for the gouvernement.

In ly opinion building higher is a good strategy, in my hometown every sinlg e space is studied carefully whether to be put as a good project for the population or to afford them a very nice and appropriate place to settle. Eventhough my city is smaller than the average cities, homes are afforded very easly

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The student takes a clear position by strongly agreeing with the statement that building tall apartment blocks is the best way to provide homes in large cities. While the response presents some relevant ideas, such as high-density living saving space and accommodating numerous people with amenities, these ideas remain under-developed and lack extended examples. Furthermore, the length requirement has not been met, as the essay contains only 198 words against the minimum requirement of 250 words. This under-length impacts the overall development of the task. Based on the band descriptors, the response partially addresses the task with limited idea development, warranting a Band 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The essay lacks clear paragraphing, consisting of only four lengthy and run-on sentences that form a single block of text rather than distinct paragraphs. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often basic, repetitive, or mechanically linked using commas rather than proper conjunctions or full stops (e.g., using comma splices like 'large cities can be challenging, however, it is beleived...'). There is some organization of ideas moving from the introduction to benefits and examples, but the lack of proper paragraph structure and faulty referencing severely limits progression. Overall, the structural shortcomings align closely with Band 4.0 descriptors for coherence and cohesion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student displays a limited vocabulary range that is minimally adequate for the task. There are several spelling mistakes throughout the text, including 'appartements' instead of apartments, 'beleived' instead of believed, 'exemple' instead of example, 'eventhough' instead of even though, 'amneties' instead of amenities, 'therfore' instead of therefore, 'gouvernement' instead of government, 'sinlg e' instead of single, and 'easly' instead of easily. While the writer attempts some less common vocabulary such as 'capacity' and 'strategy', the high frequency of spelling and word-choice errors causes some difficulty for the reader. These features fit the Band 5.0 descriptor profile.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The grammatical range is extremely limited, characterized by massive run-on sentences joined inappropriately by commas instead of periods or subordinate clauses. For instance, the second paragraph is a single lengthy sentence containing multiple clauses strung together. The student attempts complex structures, but they are frequently faulty, and punctuation is largely neglected. Frequent errors in basic sentence structure, capitalization (e.g., lowercase 'i'), and agreement are apparent throughout the text, which directly aligns with the Band 4.0 descriptors for grammatical range and accuracy.
