Student answer (Band 5.0)

In this contemporary era, the issue of builing homes or apartment blocks has sparked intense discussion. Some people argue that build a house , while others firmly believe that build the tall apartment blocks. While my opinion is that the tall apartment is better than a home.

first, the quantity of people that ables of live in the home is less as compared to the quantity of people live in the apartment. The both apartment and home takes the same area of ground to be build. But it is more better that numerous people can live on that certain area. On one hand the neighbours are limited in home scenario. On the other hand more floors you build and more neighbours you have.

Afterwards, the apartment contains gyms areas where you able todo gym whenever you want. While if you build just home here than you would to go outside of your home for gym that is near to your home, that is more time consuming as compared to utilizing gym of an apartment. Furthermore, the apartment contains shoping mart areas where you able to buy groceries whenever you want. While if you build just home here than you would to go outside of your home to buy daily groceries to the grocery store that is near to your home, that is more time consuming as compared to shoppping for groceries on an apartment.

In conclusion, the best way to provide enough homes in massive cities is to build the massive apartment blocks. Consequently, long term positiveoutcomes can only be achieved if strict measures are implemented.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt regarding whether tall apartment blocks are the best way to provide housing in large cities, taking a clear stance in favour of apartments. However, the task response is underdeveloped and repetitive, falling short of a fully articulated discussion. The arguments rely heavily on basic points regarding population density, gyms, and shopping marts, lacking deeper exploration of socioeconomic or environmental factors. While the writer attempts to support their position, the ideas remain quite limited and simplistic. According to the Band 5 descriptors, the response addresses the task only partially with ideas that are limited and under-developed. Phrases like "the quantity of people that ables of live in the home is less" demonstrate a basic level of task execution where arguments are not fully extended or substantiated with robust examples.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay displays some basic organisational structure with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, overall progression is hindered by repetitive transitional phrasing and mechanical use of cohesive devices, such as repeatedly using "On one hand... On the other hand" and "While if you build just home here than you would to go outside." Paragraphing is attempted, but the grouping of ideas is somewhat disjointed, particularly within the body paragraphs where gym and grocery points are awkwardly combined. Referencing is frequently unclear, making it difficult to follow the logical flow of arguments. These features align closely with Band 5, where there is some organisation but no clear overall progression, and cohesive devices are inadequate, repetitive, or mechanical.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic, repetitive, and heavily restricted. The writer relies on simple and often misused terms, such as "builing homes," "shoping mart areas," and "massive apartment blocks." There are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, including "ables of live," "more better," and "positiveoutcomes." While the vocabulary is minimally adequate to convey the basic premise of the argument, the frequent errors and lack of less common lexical items prevent the essay from achieving a higher band. This corresponds to the Band 5 descriptor, where the lexical range is limited and noticeable errors cause some difficulty or strain for the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

Grammatical control is weak throughout the essay, with a very limited range of structures and frequent errors. Simple sentences often contain severe structural flaws, and attempts at complex or comparative structures are consistently faulty, as seen in phrases like "the more floors you build and more neighbours you have" and "that is more time consuming as compared to utilizing gym." Errors involving subject-verb agreement, articles, prepositions, and verb forms (e.g., "where you able todo gym") occur in almost every sentence, frequently impeding communication and causing the reader difficulty. This performance fits the Band 5 criteria, characterised by a limited range of structures, faulty attempts at complex sentences, and frequent errors that hinder comprehension.
