Student answer (Band 5.0)

It is widely believed that the best to provide sufficient houses in large urban cities, they can build skyscraper appartment blocks. Hence, people think that it is convenient for them and people can save their money rather than buy a new home or land. I strongly agree with this viewpoint because it offers several advantages for individuals.

On other hand, numerous people spend their money on lands and houses and they cannot save their money for their future, but if they buy a new appartment they can save a large part of their income. This is because apartments are cheaper compared to new houses. they can invest money on other things. Moreover, appartments maintance price are low than homes, it is very convenient for them they can live there without stress. A clear example of this is that in societies there are available security facilities, so ladies and children can feel safe and they can live without any problems.

Furthermore, appartments are also more environmentally friendly. The main reason for this is that when people make new houses they cut several trees for more space, which is directly affecting environment. For instance, a significant number of homes contruction campanies casue deforestion in forest. Consequently, animals and tress cannot survive there because contruction industries are responsible for large-scale deforestion. Animals and birds unfortunately loss their houses and nests

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the task by taking a clear position that tall apartment blocks are the best way to provide housing. However, the essay is incomplete, ending abruptly in the conclusion without fully rounding out the argument. Additionally, the length check indicates the response contains only 229 words, which fails to meet the minimum 250-word requirement. Consequently, this has a negative impact on the task achievement score because the ideas cannot be fully developed. While the writer presents relevant points regarding financial savings and environmental protection, the under-length nature of the essay caps the achievement score at Band 5.5.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay demonstrates some overall organization with paragraph breaks separating different arguments, such as financial benefits and environmental impacts. However, the progression is sometimes hampered by abrupt transitions and poor referencing. For instance, the phrase 'On other hand' lacks correct prepositional usage ('On the other hand'). Furthermore, cohesive devices are limited and occasionally repetitive. The abrupt ending of the essay also detracts from its overall coherence, as there is no true concluding paragraph to summarize the main points. Paragraphing is attempted but needs better logical links between ideas to achieve a higher band.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The lexical resource is limited and displays noticeable errors in spelling, word choice, and word formation. Throughout the text, words like 'appartment' are misspelled repeatedly, and non-standard collocations appear, such as 'maintance price' instead of 'maintenance costs'. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, like 'deforestion' (misspelled deforestation) and 'environmentally friendly', but these errors cause occasional strain for the reader. To improve, the student needs to expand their vocabulary range and pay closer attention to spelling and accurate word forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay exhibits a limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on simple and moderately complex forms. There are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement and article usage, such as 'when people make new houses they cut several trees... which is directly affecting environment'. Punctuation is also neglected at times, as seen in run-on structures like 'Animals and birds unfortunately loss their houses and nests' where the full stop is missing. While some basic sentences are accurate, the high frequency of errors across different structures keeps the response at a Band 5.0 level.
