Student answer (Band 5.0)

Building the tall buildings in the big cities provides enough homes to solve housing problem in the cities. As for as my opinion in this regard is concerned, I strongly agree with this statement because we can solve so many problems like owning a flat, public.

On the one hand, Creating a larger building apartments leads us with so many benefits like we have our own flat where we can live peacefully with our family and also it is much more convenient for us to work in that city with our dream job. Additionaly We don't worry about building the house form scratch. For example, if we build our own house then we have to buy the land then start creating the building which cost a lot for anyone instead we just purchase the apartment in the down payment the pay the amount in smaller checks which is much more convenient.

On the other hand, Some people contradict with this idea because they belive that high rise building create a distraction for the birds and they got distracted by the reflection of mirrors which are installed in the buildings. In other words to avoid the birds collision we should not build high rise apartments. A part from that people don't get interacted with other so they got lonely or stressed. Besides these high rise apartments are much costly middle income level people can't afford these.

Based on these arguments it can be concluded that the idea given in the favor of high rise flats hold much water.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position agreeing with the statement that tall apartment blocks are the best way to provide enough homes in large cities. The writer attempts to support this position by mentioning advantages such as homeownership convenience and flexible payment plans, while also acknowledging counter-arguments regarding birds and cost. However, the ideas are relatively basic and lack sufficient depth or specific real-world examples. For instance, the mention of purchasing an apartment on a down payment is a relevant point, but it is underdeveloped. The conclusion is overly brief and simply restates the thesis without synthesizing the arguments. Overall, the task is addressed only partially, making this performance fit the Band 5 descriptor.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, providing some basic structure with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a brief conclusion. However, the logical progression is frequently disrupted by awkward referencing and mechanical cohesive devices. For example, transition phrases like 'As for as my opinion in this regard is concerned' and 'On the one hand' are awkwardly integrated or lead into abrupt shifts in ideas. Pronoun referencing is also occasionally unclear, such as 'they got distracted' referring to birds immediately followed by 'they don't get interacted with other' referring to people. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion requires better management to achieve a higher band score, placing this comfortably at Band 5.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The writer uses a limited but minimally adequate range of vocabulary to express basic ideas related to housing, cities, and apartments, including terms like 'apartment blocks', 'down payment', and 'high rise building'. However, there are noticeable word choice and collocation errors throughout the text, such as 'Building the tall buildings', 'creating the building', and 'pay the amount in smaller checks' instead of 'installments'. Additionally, spelling and word formation errors occur, such as 'Additionaly', 'belive', and 'A part'. These limitations and errors cause some distraction for the reader, aligning the vocabulary performance with Band 5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty or awkwardly phrased, such as the opening sentence and 'As for as my opinion in this regard is concerned, I strongly agree...'. Punctuation and article usage are problematic, including run-on sentences and missing articles ('solve housing problem', 'cost a lot for anyone'). Errors in verb tense and agreement also appear, such as 'people don't get interacted with other so they got lonely'. While communication is generally maintained, frequent errors across a limited range of structures mean this response best satisfies the criteria for Band 5.
