Student answer (Band 5.5)

Megacities should build tall skyscapers to providing enough homes to the needy ones is the significant way. While i partly agree with this because it will cover less space and it will be affordable for every person, however in tall appartments has pre designed and it also have nabour issure are drawback of tall appartments which will discuss in upcoming paragraphs.

The primary reason why i believe that tall appartments are best way because it cover less space. To elaborate it, tall buildings and apparments are well structured and designed by profeshional architectures and they try to cover less space so that there would be free space for other purpusses. Another reason is that these appartmenrs are affordable for rent or to buy own house. People also can choose flores as per their convience. For instace, many megacities like Mumbai and Delhi has appartmemts mostly and people live with unity and happily. Thus, appartments provide alot of benifits and convience.

On the other side, many appartments are pre designed which many people feel as disadvantage.Because most people like to design their home according to their teaste and because apartments are pre designed so they do not have get chance to design it according to their choice. Furthermore, society issue and neighbour issues are also very common in appartments people are unable sometimes to do things according to their taste. For example, many peope face this issue that they can not play music at night because their heighbours do not like it. So because of these reason people also affraid to live in appartments and preffer single story homes.

In conclusion, tall appartments cover less space and can be affordable for many people who live without homes, whereas there are also some issues faced by many individuals such as appartment interior and society issues.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by presenting a clear position on whether tall apartment blocks are the best way to provide housing in megacities. The student considers both advantages, such as space-saving and affordability, and drawbacks, including lack of personal customisation and neighbour-related issues. Ideas are extended and supported with relevant, albeit somewhat general, examples such as Mumbai and Delhi. While the reasoning is understandable, some points are slightly repetitive or under-developed, aligning best with a Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt at paragraphing, moving from an introduction to body paragraphs discussing advantages and disadvantages, and a conclusion. However, cohesion is frequently faulty or mechanical. For instance, the transition 'On the other side' is less natural than 'On the other hand', and referencing is occasionally unclear, such as 'which many people feel as disadvantage' and 'so because of these reason'. Progression is sometimes disrupted by awkward phrasing and repetition, placing this performance at a Band 5.5.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student attempts a range of vocabulary appropriate to the topic, such as 'megacities', 'affordable', 'architecture', and 'disadvantage'. However, there are numerous spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, including 'skyscapers' instead of 'skyscrapers', 'providing' instead of 'provide', 'appartments' (consistently misspelled), 'nabour' for 'neighbour', 'profeshional', 'purpusses', 'flores', 'convience', 'teaste', and 'affraid'. These errors show a limited control over spelling and word formation, which restricts the lexical score to a Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some capacity for subordination ('While i partly agree with this because...'). However, grammatical accuracy is weak, with frequent errors in articles, preposition usage, verb forms ('to providing', 'is the significant way', 'has pre designed'), and subject-verb agreement ('many megacities ... has appartmemts'). Punctuation is also problematic, leading to run-on sentences like the opening sentence. Because these errors are frequent and occasionally cause difficulty for the reader, a Band 5.0 is appropriate.
