Student answer (Band 5.0)
It is often argued that the best method to provide a large quantity of housing in urban areas is to build tall apartment blocks rather than single-story houses. From my perspective, I strongly believe that in the modern era to control the rapidly growing population in urban cities it is essential to construct tall apartments blocks.
First and foremost, the government should construct tall apartment blocks which leads to require a sufficient amount to establish to to these projects. For instance, tall buildings enhance the residential issue such as in a single- story houses all expenses are the responsibilty of a single man. In addition it is a more difficult situation to manage all the things. Furthermore, in a single-story houses, individuals and elders suffer a loneliness and depression due to no gathering.
Furthermore, tall buildings could be a risk of disasters like natural accidents and noise pollution. Too much noise pollution creates a disturbance for elder people. Because they wants to a peaceful environment in old age. As compared to single apartments provide a peacefull environment for elder people. It is beneficial for their mental health. For instance, elder people cannot use the stairs because their physical health condition does not allow them.
In conclusion, some people argue this issue. In my opinion, I contend that the government and authorities should plan to construct tall apartment blocks in urban cities. In this way, they can control the environmental degradation.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response presents a clear position regarding the construction of tall apartment blocks, supporting it with arguments about cost and social dynamics. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive, particularly regarding elders and noise pollution. Furthermore, the length requirement has not been met, as the response contains only 240 words, falling short of the 250-word minimum. This word count penalty prevents the score from reaching a higher band. While all parts of the prompt are touched upon, the arguments in body paragraphs lack full extension and logical clarity, occasionally wandering into confusing claims such as tall buildings increasing risks of natural accidents. Consequently, the task response is partially realized, aligning with a Band 5.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is divided into distinct paragraphs, including an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Transitional markers such as 'First and foremost', 'In addition', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion' are employed to structure the text. However, the overall logical progression is flawed because the ideas within the body paragraphs lack clear connection and sometimes contradict themselves. For instance, the second body paragraph mixes the benefits of single-story houses with the drawbacks of tall buildings in a confusing manner. Additionally, referencing is occasionally unclear, such as 'this issue' in the conclusion. Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion is mechanical and sometimes faulty, which places this performance solidly at Band 5.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, featuring terms such as 'urban areas', 'rapidly growing population', 'environmental degradation', and 'residential issue'. However, there are noticeable lexical errors and awkward collocations throughout the text, such as 'establish to to these projects', 'enhance the residential issue', and 'natural accidents'. The range of vocabulary is limited and repetitive, with frequent reliance on basic words. Although the writer attempts some less common phrasing, inaccuracies in word choice and collocation cause occasional strain for the reader, which corresponds to a Band 5 descriptor level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but control over grammar is weak. There are frequent grammatical errors, such as missing subjects, incorrect prepositions, and verb tense inconsistencies, exemplified by phrases like 'leads to require a sufficient amount', 'a single- story houses all expenses are', and 'because they wants to a peaceful environment'. Punctuation is also erratic in places. While simple sentences are generally understandable, attempts at more complex structures often result in faulty grammar that can cause difficulty for the reader, reflecting the characteristics of a Band 5.
