Student answer (Band 5.5)

it is often argued that the optimal solutions for addressing homeless individuals is giving them flats by constructing tall appartments. I partly agree to this statement as individual preference varies even though they are in need of roof.

one major reason is that individuals picture house as their comfort and private place.

providing individuals flats in appartment can make their privacy invading because of the least partition in each other environment and transparency of personal matters. For instance, if someone is celebration in particular culture is not appreciated by others which makes each other uncomfortable as neighbours as a result it creates urge to relocate.another compelling reason is tall apartment building is threating for individuals lifes in situations like natural disaster which has poor foundation strength. For instance cities with tall buildings had largest destruction in earthquake rather than villages with small two storey buildings.

In contrast, tall appartment building offers reasonable size of flat . building tall appartments in small acres can provide homes to larger homeless proportion of people in which the shared environment can be satisfying in terms handling any issues or celebration of any precious moments. For instance,if they have issues in water or electricity they can consider this problem altogether and quick solution can be addressed.

overall, offering flats to various people has surely has significant merits and demirts , i partly agree to this solution because individuals are quiet sensitive in terms of house and it takes much consideration to satisfy them completely without the upcoming issues.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the extent of agreement with building tall apartment blocks to provide homes. A position is presented ("I partly agree to this statement"), and supporting ideas are provided, such as concerns over privacy and natural disasters versus efficient space utilisation and shared community problem-solving. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited and lacks depth or specific external examples, relying instead on broad generalisations like "cities with tall buildings had largest destruction in earthquake." The main arguments are stated but not fully extended. Therefore, the response aligns best with the criteria for a band 6 in task achievement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is divided into an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, displaying a coherent overall arrangement. Paragraphing is attempted, though some paragraphs lack distinct topic sentences and transition abruptly (e.g., "one major reason is..."). Cohesive devices are used, but sometimes mechanically or awkwardly, such as "In contrast" used where an alternative advantage is presented rather than a direct contrast, or "overall, offering flats to various people has surely has significant merits and demirts". Reference words are used, but occasional ambiguities arise. Overall organisation is adequate for a band 6.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student attempts some less common vocabulary, such as "optimal solutions", "compelling reason", and "reasonable size", but these are balanced by noticeable lexical errors and awkward collocations like "least partition in each other environment", "privacy invading", and "demirts". Spelling errors are also present, including "appartments", "threating", and "lifes". While the vocabulary is minimally adequate to convey the basic meaning, the frequency of word-choice errors and spelling inaccuracies restricts the lexical score to a 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as conditional structures and relative clauses. However, control over grammar and punctuation is inconsistent. There are frequent grammatical errors, including missing articles ("giving them flats", "in earthquake"), subject-verb agreement issues ("solution... is giving", "building tall appartments... can provide"), and incorrect prepositions ("celebration in particular culture"). Punctuation and capitalization are also faulty in several places (e.g., uncapitalized beginnings of sentences like "one major reason" and "another compelling reason"). These errors cause some difficulty for the reader, placing the grammar score at a 5.0.
