Student answer (Band 5.0)
Nowadays people are relocating to get better carrer options, healthy living standards for which they now need roof over their heads that will help them in staying in urban cities. In the further paragraphs we will discuss regarding the imporatnce, advantages and disadvantages regarding building tall apartment blocks in the large cities where i partially agree which i will further in the following paragraphs.
To begin with, it is very essential for people to commute from one place to another for several reasons. For instance, education, job, health and many more so that they will be able to maintain a good livelihood. In addition to the same they require a place to live because it is not possible to travel from one place to another everyday and it is also not feasible to buy a home in the metropolitian cities as they cost alot and not every person can afford it. So, to reduce the stress of living the local authorities has built tall builing which provides accomodation to each catogery irrespective of their standards on rental basis or even after some time they can even buy the same.
On the other hand, livilng in buildings tend to have more danger rather living in the houses because at the time of natural calamities such as earthquake, these builidings have chances to demolish faster and it has seen in the previous incidents that during earthquake people got stuck under the buildings because they did not get the chance to escape from their homes.
whereas, people living in houses has ease in everything as they have easy access to many resources.
In conclusion, building tall apartment blocks in the cities has it's own pros and cons perhaps staying in homes seems to be much safer in comparison to the buildings whereas in monetary terms staying in the flats would be more convinent though it has become a trend and feasible to accomodate more families in a single tall building on single floor.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The student addresses the prompt by discussing the advantages and disadvantages of tall apartment blocks and states a partial position in the introduction. However, the development of ideas is limited and somewhat repetitive. For instance, the discussion on commuting and employment in the second paragraph lacks direct connection to the core question of whether tall buildings are the best way to provide housing. While the writer touches upon affordability and safety, the arguments are under-developed and lack specific examples from their own knowledge or experience. The conclusion reiterates the introduction rather than synthesizing key arguments. Therefore, the response aligns best with Band 5.0 descriptors, as ideas are limited and the position, while stated, is not fully supported throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response shows some basic organization with paragraph breaks, but overall progression is lacking. The introduction contains repetitive phrasing such as 'in the further paragraphs we will discuss' and 'which i will further in the following paragraphs'. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or repetitively, such as 'In addition to the same' and 'On the other hand'. Furthermore, paragraphing is problematic; the third paragraph is a single overly long, run-on sentence that merges disparate ideas, and the fourth paragraph is extremely brief. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as 'buy the same' or 'easiness in everything'. Consequently, the coherence and cohesion reflect Band 5.0 standards, where there is some organization but noticeable flaws in logical progression and cohesive device usage.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The student uses a limited but minimally adequate range of vocabulary for the task. There are several spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'carrer' instead of career, 'imporatnce', 'metropolitian', 'builidings', 'demolish' used where collapse or sustain damage is intended, and 'convinent'. Words are sometimes used inaccurately or with awkward collocations, such as 'each catogery irrespective of their standards'. While the vocabulary allows the writer to convey basic ideas about housing and cities, the noticeable errors and restricted range place this response firmly at Band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on long, run-on compound sentences connected by conjunctions like 'and' or 'so'. For example, the sentence starting with 'So, to reduce the stress...' is overly convoluted and grammatically strained. There are frequent errors in punctuation, subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the local authorities has built'), and tense consistency. Attempts at complex sentences often result in faulty punctuation and awkward phrasing. These frequent grammatical errors cause some difficulty for the reader and prevent the text from reaching a higher band, making Band 5.0 the most appropriate score.
