Student answer (Band 5.5)
In recent years, population has been on its peak. As a result , some people believe that tall apartment blocks is the best way to solve the problem of enough homes for increasing population. However, I totally agree with this statement because tall apartment will save space and it will be cost efficient for middle class people as buying a land and building own house is really expensive.
One important reason to build tall apartment blocks is urbanization, as a individual who wanna make a good life for his/her family they just migrate from one place to large cities for better opportunities and good quality of life. for instance urban city provide better education and good healthcare infrastructure for any individual family so for that reason one person travel to big cities for their family. As a more amount of people come to city their should be increase in housing demand so for fulfilling the needs of a family large apartment plays a crucial role.
Furthermore, with the help of building a large apartment cutting down of forest can be done as 100 families can be live on a single land instead of making a different houses in 100 different places. In addition, apartment blocks can provides a better livings standard for every family as one family can learn about different culture and religious belief from their neighbours.
In conclusion, although apartment blocks couldn’t be able to provide more kind of private lifestyle but it can definitely bring more people together even though they have different beliefs.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The student addresses the task by stating a clear position of total agreement with the proposition that tall apartment blocks are the best solution for housing shortages in large cities. The response includes relevant ideas, such as saving space, cost efficiency for the middle class, urban migration, and environmental preservation through reduced urban sprawl. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited and repetitious. For instance, the discussion on urbanization in the second paragraph wanders into general motivations for migration rather than strictly focusing on housing provision. The conclusion also introduces a slightly tangential point regarding privacy and cultural diversity rather than summarising the main arguments. Overall, the response addresses all parts of the task with sufficient development to meet the requirements for a Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response has a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is utilised, though paragraph breaks and internal cohesion can be mechanical and awkward. Cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'In addition', and 'In conclusion' are present, but referencing and transitions are sometimes faulty, as seen in the transition from urbanization drivers to housing demands in the second paragraph. Punctuation errors around cohesive markers (e.g., spacing before commas, run-on structures) detract from smooth reading. There is a clear attempt to logically sequence ideas, but the execution suffers from mechanical transitions and a lack of fluid progression, placing it firmly at a Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating terms like 'urbanization', 'infrastructure', 'cost efficient', and 'livings standard'. However, there are noticeable word-choice and collocation errors throughout the text, such as 'population has been on its peak' instead of 'at its peak', 'as a individual who wanna' containing informal/slang elements, and 'cutting down of forest can be done'. Spelling errors like 'religious belief' missing plural forms and awkward phrasings like 'more kind of private lifestyle' also appear. While the student attempts less common vocabulary, inaccuracies in collocation and word formation limit the score to Band 5.5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and conditional-like structures ('as 100 families can be live on a single land'). However, grammatical accuracy is weak, with frequent errors including subject-verb agreement issues ('apartment blocks can provides'), incorrect prepositions ('on a single land' instead of 'on a single plot of land'), missing articles, and awkward passive constructions ('cutting down of forest can be done'). Punctuation is also problematic, with missing capitalisation at the start of sentences and erratic spacing around punctuation marks. Because these errors are frequent and occasionally cause minor strain for the reader, the writing corresponds to a Band 5.0.
