Student answer (Band 5.0)
In regard to the statement that it is the best way to provide enough home in the cities is to build a tall apartment building. I completely agree with your point of view.
I strongly believe that all cities should not have a tall apartment building because it can lead to a crowded area. To begin with, a large cities should maintain an open area. Building a tall apartment could block the view of the city. As a result it can become narrow places and tight because of many building built. Additionaly, it could become noisey area and dirty because it will be crowded. For example, there will be many people everywhere who occupied the area and destroy the city by throwing garbage. As a result the large city will become small. Morever, the city becomes so busy area because so many people, many new building, and organization.
That being said, there are also benifit on building a tall apartment building in a big city because it could save the area instead of building a house in each family. One benifit is that people could only stay in one building which consist of many families. This could

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, containing only 197 words, which significantly restricts the development of ideas. Furthermore, there is a contradiction in the student's stance; the introduction states that the writer completely agrees with the prompt, yet the second paragraph strongly argues against tall apartment buildings ("I strongly believe that all cities should not have a tall apartment building"). Consequently, the position is unclear and poorly maintained. Ideas are presented but remain underdeveloped, leading to a Band 4.5 performance for task achievement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is divided into short paragraphs, but the abrupt ending in the third paragraph ("This could") disrupts the flow. Cohesive devices are used, such as "To begin with," "As a result," and "Morever," but they are sometimes repetitive or mechanically applied. While there is a basic attempt to structure the response into an introduction and body paragraphs, the lack of a conclusion and the sudden cutoff hinder logical progression, placing this criterion at Band 5.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, featuring frequent reliance on basic words and phrases like "big city," "many people," and "tall apartment building." There are noticeable word-choice and spelling errors, such as "benifit" instead of benefit, "noisey" instead of noisy, and "Additionaly" and "Morever" with spelling mistakes. These errors and the restricted range of vocabulary reflect a Band 5.0 level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writer attempts some complex structures, but these attempts are frequently marred by grammatical errors, such as "In regard to the statement that it is the best way to provide enough home in the cities is to build a tall apartment building," which contains a structural clash. Other errors include singular/plural mismatches like "a large cities" and awkward phrasing like "many building built." The range of structures is limited, and frequent errors occasionally impede smooth reading, warranting a Band 5.0.
