Student answer (Band 5.0)

I agree with the statement of the building tall apartment blocks to provide enough homes in large cities. Due to overpopulation, the population size increases and the land to live decreases and so does the necessities of life. The tall apartment blocks are needed to provide enough space for the population to live there. To overcome the space shortage for living it is necessary to make enough spaces for the population. The most important reason is the shortage of manufacturing cost on the apartments of tall buildings and it also cause less cost to architecture and construction industry. The peoples living next to each other cause a sense of responsibility and attention to each others problem. The tax returns for large buildings also decreses an it will be also beneficial for them. people living in their home proves to be more productive in the country growth and civilization as compared to homeless people. The apartments provide all the necessities of home at one place . The sewerage system, electricityand the water system plays a greater role in the residence system of citizens. as far as housing rents are concerned so apartment blocks are less costly than a house and it rents so cheaper for the community to afford a housing facility . one of the example is apartment blocks in dubai and europe to accomodate large population in affordable way. From my knowledge and experience, the large cities look great, cheaper, convenient and afforadable with building tall apartment blocks and this is the best way to provide accomodation for citizens

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by stating an agreement with building tall apartment blocks in large cities. The position is clear throughout the essay. However, the ideas are relatively basic, repetitive, and under-developed. For example, the writer mentions that tall buildings reduce manufacturing and architectural costs, but this point is not extended or supported with convincing explanations or specific details. Similarly, the benefits to tax returns and community responsibility are asserted rather than fully explored. While all parts of the task are addressed, the lack of depth in argument development places this performance at Band 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.5

The text suffers significantly from a lack of paragraphing, as the entire essay is written as a single, massive block of text. This makes the progression of ideas difficult to follow. Although there are some basic cohesive devices used, such as 'The most important reason', 'and so does', and 'one of the example', referencing and transitions are frequently faulty or mechanical. The lack of distinct paragraph breaks means that overall cohesion is inadequate, leading to a score of Band 4.5.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is generally basic and repetitive, with frequent reliance on simple terms like 'homes', 'people', 'big', and 'cities'. There are noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'shortage of manufacturing cost', 'cause less cost to architecture', and 'it rents so cheaper'. Spelling errors also occur, such as 'decreses' instead of 'decreases', 'electricityand', and 'accomodate'. The lexical range is limited and minimally adequate for the task, which corresponds to a Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer demonstrates a limited range of grammatical structures, relying mostly on simple sentences joined by coordinating conjunctions like 'and'. When attempts are made at more complex structures, they often contain errors, such as 'I agree with the statement of the building tall apartment blocks' and 'the peoples living next to each other cause a sense of responsibility'. There are frequent errors in articles, prepositions, and subject-verb agreement, such as 'tax returns... decreses an it will be'. These errors cause some difficulty for the reader, resulting in a Band 5.0.
