Student answer (Band 5.0)

It is often argued that construction of tall community buildings in large cities is good to adjust more people and provide homes to them. I completely agree to this because it provides public more income sources and good well-being and facilities.

One major reason why i agree to this reason is that people finds more facilities and get more opportunities while residing in cities rather the countryside. Individual gets more chances to find jobs. It not matter wheather they are living in an appartment or personal homes espacielly when the thing is about to earn money and make life easier. For instance, a person living in a small appartment, either in the tall building or small, he has excellent choice to work in office as mainly as well as do some part time job to get more earning. Therefore providing valueable homes is good enough for them.

Another important reason is that living in large and well economic cities has that much facilities to serve it's citizen. This will provide good life and more valueable things to whom that are living in that city. As an illustration, a well know hospital is necessary for any mishap. A well recognised university is good for young generation to get top level education and secure their career in different fields. Consequently, this will automatically generates chances for multinational companies to invest in that country and not only country, it will target to that specific city.

In conclusion, I strongly agree that provide homes to people in well structured cities by building tall appartment blocks mainly because of more valueable life and getting good options to make city a physical mark.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position that building tall apartment blocks is the best way to provide homes in large cities. The writer attempts to support this with ideas related to income sources, employment opportunities, and urban facilities like hospitals and universities. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive, drifting slightly into general discussions about why cities are attractive rather than strictly focusing on why tall apartment blocks are the best housing solution. For instance, the link between earning money and living in a tall apartment block is not fully articulated. The response meets the basic requirements of Task Response at Band 5.0, as ideas are presented but remain under-developed and lack clear, specific examples related directly to the core prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. There is a basic organizational structure, and some cohesive devices are used, such as 'One major reason', 'For instance', 'Another important reason', and 'In conclusion'. However, the overall progression is hampered by awkward phrasing and mechanical transitions. Referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in sentences like 'This will provide good life and more valueable things to whom that are living in that city.' Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal logical flow within paragraphs is disjointed due to grammatical confusions and abrupt shifts in ideas. Cohesive devices are sometimes inaccurate or repetitive. These features place the response firmly at Band 5.0 for Coherence and Cohesion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The lexical resource is limited and displays noticeable errors that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. The student attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'multinational companies' and 'recognised university', but frequent word-choice and collocation errors are present throughout the text. Examples include 'construction of tall community buildings', 'adjust more people' instead of 'accommodate more people', 'appartment' (misspelled), 'espacielly', and 'valueable'. Furthermore, phrases like 'make city a physical mark' are unnatural and impede clear communication. While the vocabulary is minimally adequate to convey a basic argument, the high frequency of lexical inaccuracies prevents the response from reaching Band 6.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The grammatical range is limited, consisting of a mix of simple and heavily flawed complex structures. The writer attempts complex sentences, but these are frequently marred by structural errors, incorrect verb forms, and subject-verb agreement issues. Examples include 'people finds more facilities', 'rather the countryside', 'It not matter wheather', and 'automatically generates chances'. Punctuation and article usage are also weak throughout the response (e.g., 'a well know hospital', 'provide homes to people'). Errors occur with high frequency and occasionally strain the reader's understanding, reflecting the characteristics of Band 5.0, where frequent grammatical errors are present and control over complex sentence forms remains weak.
