Student answer (Band 4.5)
Residance is one of the main problem nowadays. Moreover, people want to live at a place where all the oppertunities are available that is why they are moveing toward cities. I agree with the statement that to provide more place to live in large cities tall appartment blocks should built.
First of all, in cities all the facilities are available near our home so, we don,t have to go far from our residance. In cities supermarkets and malls are available where we can get everything in one place. In cities better quality things and hygenic food and education is available. Recently our neighbours came in Lahore from their village for their daughter,s education.
Secondly, people who are shifting in cities they don,t have enough budget to buy or build a house there that is why they biegns getting house on rents. Or if we start building house for people who come from outside cities becomes crowded.
In conclusion, to reduce this problem goverment should focus on building apartment blocks to provide place to live there because it is a fundamental right of every humman to get place where all opertunities are available.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position agreeing that tall apartment blocks are the best way to provide housing in large cities. However, the task is significantly under-length, containing only 191 words compared to the minimum requirement of 250 words. This under-length severely limits the development of ideas. While the writer attempts to provide reasons such as proximity to facilities and budget constraints, the arguments remain underdeveloped and rely on simplistic examples, such as mentioning neighbours coming to Lahore from their village. Consequently, the response aligns best with Band 5 due to the limited and underdeveloped nature of the ideas, compounded by the word count penalty.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay displays some basic organization with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a brief conclusion. However, there is a lack of overall progression and smooth transitions between ideas. Cohesive devices are used in a very mechanical and repetitive manner, such as starting paragraphs with 'First of all,' and 'Secondly,'. Paragraphing is attempted, but the separation of ideas is basic. Referencing is sometimes unclear, for instance, in the second body paragraph where the flow between budget constraints and crowded cities is disjointed. Overall, the structural framework is present but basic, fitting the Band 5 descriptors.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently revolving around everyday words like 'cities,' 'house,' 'home,' and 'people.' There are numerous noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, such as 'Residance' for residence, 'oppertunities' for opportunities, 'moveing' for moving, 'appartment' for apartment, 'built' for be built, 'hygenic' for hygienic, and 'humman' for human. These errors cause some difficulty for the reader and demonstrate a limited range of vocabulary that is barely adequate for the task, placing the response firmly at Band 4.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but control over grammar and punctuation is weak. There are frequent errors in punctuation, run-on sentences, and comma splices, such as in the opening sentences where clauses are incorrectly separated. Grammatical errors are numerous, including subject-verb agreement issues like 'goverment should focus' and tense or voice errors like 'tall appartment blocks should built' instead of 'should be built'. These errors frequently cause strain and difficulty for the reader, matching the characteristics of a Band 4 performance.
