Student answer (Band 5.0)

Yess i completely agree with this statement. Because now a days there are plantey of people who are planing to shift in the big cities. many people have already shifted their whole bloodline in the city. I think this is because the cities are very advanced and have alot of facilities like trains, buses, taxis and most importantly there are more job opportunities, cities are way more cleaner than villages and the big companies and factories and the culture is very different than villages. I think thats the main reason why people want to shift in cities. now we will tak about housing , obviusky people will buy home for them but thats not gonna be a good idea. because cities are smaller and dont hve that much land to provide a seperate big homes for people. Because as we talked earlier there are so many shops, market, buisness and wearhouse. We pakistani people want a big house so thts not gonna happen in big cities. Now the satutaion is worse we have to make proper housing for them like other countries. Many big and devolp countries make big appartments in their big citie that can give home to many people in a very small land. Some people tink it gonne be old fashioned and they will not be able to live there with kuxury. But thats not complete true there are different types of appartments like luxury one and other appartment can also be too big. many rch people like buisness owners CEO and many other people buy luxury appartments and penthouse. We can manage these apartments easily they look clean and attractive they does not take too much place they are affordable. Thats why i think this is gonna be a good idea to build appartments in the city.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position agreeing with the statement ('Yess i completely agree with this statement') and supporting it with reasons such as urbanisation, lack of available land, and the benefits of high-rise living like luxury penthouses and affordability. However, the development is somewhat informal and repetitive in places (e.g., repeating 'cities are very advanced' and 'shift in cities'). It touches upon all parts of the task, presenting clear ideas though they are occasionally under-developed and rely on generalisations. This performance aligns best with Band 6.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The essay lacks proper paragraphing, presented instead as one long, dense block of text, which significantly hinders readability and logical progression. While there are some cohesive devices used (e.g., 'Because', 'Now', 'Some people tink'), referencing is often faulty or mechanical, and the overall arrangement lacks clear structural milestones like an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. The flow is disrupted by run-on sentences and a conversational, stream-of-consciousness style. These features are characteristic of Band 4.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including topic-specific terms like 'urbanisation' (implied), 'job opportunities', 'luxury apartments', and 'penthouse'. However, there are numerous spelling errors ('plantey', 'planing', 'alot', 'devolp', 'appartment', 'rch', 'bussiness') and word-choice inaccuracies ('bloodline' instead of family generations, 'wearhouse'). Although these errors are frequent, they rarely impede overall communication. This lexical profile sits comfortably at Band 5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'Many big and devolp countries make big appartments in their big citie that can give home to many people in a very small land.' However, punctuation is largely neglected (missing capitalisation at the start of sentences, run-on clauses linked improperly with commas). There are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('they does not take') and tense inconsistencies. These errors cause some difficulty for the reader, placing the response at Band 5.
