Student answer (Band 4.5)
I think that the best way to provides enough homes in large cities is to manage homes with their residents by specifying land piece for the numbers of residents in the home as there is no need of big homes for the family of just 2-3 individuals either they are rich or poor people have to manage their residing area in their need they have to adjust in that what they just need not in luxuries lifestyle one way to provide more homes in cities is also as you say to build tall appartments, people will live their lifes in appartments but they can't enjoy their live in appartment as compare to open houses tall appartments can manage more residences but also occures more problems like distribution of water and other alliences so it will better to alot peoples their specific lands rather then building tall appartments because it will also help in getting headache of so many problems but also it consume less cost then building tall appartments but if there is difficult to manage people with their land pieces then the next option is building tall appartments in cities but we have to prefer alotting land pieces to people and restrict people to buy more landmarks then their needs we also have to avoid Extravagance in our lives it will not only beneficial for others but also helpful in our future so the best way is to alot land mark and then the second option is to build tall appartments but with building appartments we have to manage all their problems also in their daily lives.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing whether tall apartment blocks are the best solution for providing homes in large cities, and the student presents a clear position favouring the allocation of land pieces instead. However, the development of ideas is limited and repetitive. The student mentions that tall apartments cause problems like water distribution and high costs, but these points are under-developed and lack specific supporting examples. The position is maintained throughout, but the arguments regarding land allocation and avoiding extravagance are slightly tangential and lack the analytical depth required for higher bands. According to the band descriptors, this performance aligns closely with Band 5, as the ideas are limited and under-developed, and the task is only partially addressed due to a lack of extended reasoning.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The entire response is written as a single, exceptionally long run-on sentence without any paragraph breaks. This severely disrupts the logical organisation and overall progression of the essay. There is an absence of standard cohesive devices, and referencing between ideas is extremely weak and mechanical. While the general flow follows a train of thought moving from land allocation to apartments and back again, the lack of paragraphs and punctuation makes it very difficult for the reader to follow the logical development. This falls squarely under the Band 4 descriptor, where information and ideas are not arranged coherently and paragraphing is entirely neglected.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The student uses a limited range of vocabulary that is minimally adequate to convey basic ideas, such as "homes", "residents", "rich or poor", and "apartments". There are noticeable errors in word choice, such as "specifying land piece", "alliences" (alliances/appliances), and "alot peoples" (allot people). Furthermore, phrases like "getting headache of so many problems" are unnatural and unidiomatic. Spelling errors and awkward collocations occur frequently, although communication is generally maintained despite the strain. This performance is characteristic of Band 5, featuring a limited vocabulary range and noticeable errors that cause some difficulty for the reader.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The grammatical structure of the text is severely constrained by the fact that the entire essay consists of one massive run-on sentence connected by coordinating conjunctions and commas, completely lacking periods or full stops. There is a very limited range of accurate sentence structures, and attempts at complex clauses result in frequent errors, such as missing subjects, incorrect verb forms ("provides", "occures", "consume"), and faulty agreement. Punctuation is virtually non-existent. These frequent errors cause significant difficulty for the reader and reflect the Band 4 descriptor, where a very limited range of structures is used and errors are frequent, distorting meaning in places.
