Student answer (Band 5.0)

In this task i would like to discuss my opinion on The great way to develop sufficient houses in big cities is to make long apartment blocks.According to me, this will not be very much heplful to everyone in future. As there are so many risks and disadvantages of it.

As i do not agree with this statement because some people can not afford that much expensive apartments especially for the middle class and the lower class people. There are so many different ways to provide houses to different people at a reasonable prise also. Therefore, there are some risks also like earthquake. It is so dangerous for everyone as the apartments takes a lot of time to get step out from the block in emergency cases. As per my opinion, there would be so many other ways to fulfilling people wants for providing homes. For example providing even small homes so that each and everyone can buy it.Government should focus on providing the environmental free houses where people can meet each other easily and help each other wisely. Most of the people know how to live in socities and colonies. They know how make unity. As some people have a phobia of claustrophobia, so they are not able to live in tight and covered spaces.

In conclusion, as i do not agree with this given statement. government can do anything whatever they want to and in any way. They know how fulfill everyone's wants and desires.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear stance against building tall apartment blocks, providing several reasons such as affordability, safety risks like earthquakes, and psychological factors like claustrophobia. However, the ideas are often repetitive and lack deep development or specific evidence. Furthermore, the response falls short of the 250-word minimum requirement, containing only 244 words, which inevitably pulls down the Task Achievement score. While the writer attempts to present a position throughout, the under-length nature of the essay and the somewhat limited extension of ideas restrict the score to Band 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the paragraphing is poorly handled, with a lack of clear separation for distinct ideas and a very brief conclusion. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or repetitively (e.g., starting multiple sentences with 'As' or 'There are so many'). The overall progression of ideas feels disjointed, moving abruptly between affordability, natural disasters, and psychological conditions without smooth transitional phrases. While there is a basic logical flow attempting to argue against the prompt, the mechanical and sometimes inaccurate use of cohesive devices places this response securely at Band 5.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is relatively basic and repetitive, featuring frequent reliance on common words and phrases like 'so many', 'different ways', and 'good'. There are noticeable word choice and collocation errors, such as 'heplful', 'prise' instead of 'price', 'environmental free houses', and 'make unity'. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary items like 'claustrophobia' and 'earthquake', but inaccuracies in lexical control and spelling impede natural expression. The range is minimally adequate for the task, fitting the Band 5.0 descriptors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The student uses a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but many complex attempts are grammatically flawed or incomplete (e.g., 'In this task i would like to discuss my opinion on The great way to develop sufficient houses in big cities is to make long apartment blocks'). There are frequent grammatical errors, including capitalization issues, pronoun misuse ('i'), awkward dependent clauses, and punctuation mistakes. These errors frequently cause strain for the reader and demonstrate weak control over grammar and sentence boundaries, reflecting the characteristics of a Band 4.5 to 5.0 response.
