Student answer (Band 4.5)

The best way to provide enough homes in larges cites is tobuild apartments blocks.I agree with thw statement but at first you have to know what home means and why apartment are to build.

home means the place you where born or a place you lives or you owns that place ,demands are you wanna make that place, and if we talk about why partmenr ment to build is beacuse apartments are the builds that taes less place to build and also in that area hurdends of people can lives in a one sade.

The best way to provide enough homes in large cities is to biuild aparmtments because in a on build we can make so many floods how much we want.At every flood we can build atleast 5 apartments and also have the expirew of high rise apartments. The apartments take less space to build and also it is save to live around so many peoples.

The space that is taken by one home to build, rather then one family stay we can builds alot of apartment over there and more then one family can lives over there and its will take less space and less money to spend. This is benifit fo the state that they will have more area for the people that goverment can build mre things for there people.

So i will like to say that building apartment is more benfit rather then building home and take more space over there, and i agree with this makes apartment blocks.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position agreeing that tall apartment blocks are the best way to provide enough homes in large cities. The student attempts to support this position by arguing that apartments save space and accommodate many families in a single footprint. However, the ideas are underdeveloped, repetitive, and lack sophisticated supporting arguments or relevant real-world examples. Phrases like 'what home means and why apartment are to build' derail the focus, and the overall development remains superficial. This performance fits the Band 5 descriptor where ideas are limited, repetitive, and under-developed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the organization is severely hindered by a lack of basic progression and logical sequencing. The introduction wanders off into a rudimentary philosophical definition of a 'home' rather than setting up a clear outline of the arguments. Cohesive devices are either missing, inadequate, or repetitive, with the writer relying on basic conjunctions like 'and' and 'so'. Referencing is frequently unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the flow of thought. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion is faulty. This aligns closely with the Band 4 descriptor, where information and ideas are not arranged coherently and progression is lacking.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary used is very basic, repetitive, and heavily impacted by numerous spelling errors such as 'larges cites' for 'large cities', 'partmenr' for 'apartment', and 'benifit' for 'benefit'. The range is extremely limited, restricting the student's ability to discuss the topic with any precision or flexibility. While the writer attempts to use some less common words, they are consistently misspelled or misused, and frequent errors strain the reader's understanding. This performance corresponds to the Band 4 descriptor, reflecting basic and repetitive vocabulary with frequent errors that impede communication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The grammatical range is extremely limited, consisting almost entirely of simple or clumsily joined compound sentences. There is a complete lack of control over complex sentence structures, and basic grammatical rules such as subject-verb agreement and tense consistency are frequently violated, as seen in phrases like 'a place you lives or you owns' and 'hundreds of people can lives'. Punctuation is also erratic, with missing spaces and run-on sentences. Errors are dense and frequent throughout the text, often distorting the intended meaning, which places the essay firmly in the Band 4 category for grammatical range and accuracy.
