It is a fact that building a high-rise apartments in densely populated areas is the finest approach to reduce housing shortages. I believe that, such strategy to accommodate large population in engrossed cities is finest move. I strongly support the initiative as it offers significant advantages for environmental sustainability and resource efficiency.
To begin with, constructing tall buildings reduces land sprawling, thereby preventing deforestation and natural habitat. Instead of suburban housing framing vertical flats will not only accommodate dense population but also protect agricultural site. For instance, cities like Toronto, Mississauga contain large residential area because of its high population without compromising fresh air and beautiful natural view surrounded by lakes and greenery.
In addition, along with saving natural surroundings building high-rise apartment blocks offers numerous facilities and accessibility. To elaborate, it facilitates residents with pool, gym, regular water and electricity supply all covers in single land, though it is sometimes a question of affordability. Moreover, large cities face massive population pressure. People in dense urban cores prefers work, school and other leisure places all at one stop. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses the prompt effectively by taking a clear position that building tall apartment blocks is the best way to handle housing shortages. The writer outlines several valid arguments regarding environmental sustainability, land preservation, and urban convenience. For instance, the mention of Toronto and Mississauga illustrates how high-density living can coexist with green spaces. However, some ideas are slightly under-developed and lack deeper elaboration, such as the brief mention of affordability. Overall, the main tenets of the task are well covered, and a clear, consistent stance is maintained throughout the essay, aligning well with the Band 6.5 or 7 descriptor range.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay displays a generally coherent overall arrangement with a logical progression of ideas from environmental benefits in the second paragraph to lifestyle conveniences in the third. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct points. Cohesive devices are present, such as 'To begin with', 'In addition', and 'In conclusion', though some referencing and transitional links are slightly mechanical or awkward, as seen in 'all covers in single land, though it is sometimes a question of affordability.' Despite these occasional cohesion slips, the structure remains clear and the reader can easily follow the progression of the argument, satisfying the requirements for Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, attempting some less common lexical items such as 'environmental sustainability', 'resource efficiency', and 'land sprawling'. However, there are noticeable word choice and collocation errors throughout the text. For instance, writing 'a high-rise apartments' contains a grammatical article error coupled with lexical misuse, and phrases like 'framing vertical flats' or 'engrossed cities' are unnatural. Additionally, minor spelling issues like 'conveniency' occur. These vocabulary limitations and occasional inaccuracies restrict the score to a Band 6.0, as the student attempts a broader range but lacks full precision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures like conditional clauses and relative clauses. However, grammatical accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in article usage, singular/plural agreement, and prepositional choice, such as 'building a high-rise apartments', 'protect agricultural site', and 'apartments are build accordingly'. Furthermore, some sentences lack structural clarity, for example, 'People in dense urban cores prefers work...'. While these errors do not severely impede overall communication, their frequency prevents the essay from reaching a higher band, comfortably placing this criterion at a Band 5.5.
