Student answer (Band 4.5)

Population in the world is growing significantly and the number of natural resources are extremely vanishing. One of the main problem in this regard is shelter and food for the people. Some countries in the world like India and China are at the verge of chaos because of their population. It is very challenging to provide separate homes to the people in the world.

The discussions are raising in the parliments of the countries to do something to provide shelter for the peoples.

One of the best and convenient way to provide homes to the people in larger cities and in the crowded palce is to build a tall apartment block. In this massive and tall apartment significant number of people can live together and share the resources.

This can save land and this saved land is used for the agriculture and gardening. This is very good idea for the settlement of number of peoples at a place.

There are also some numerous drawbacks of this idea because some people can not want to live with other peoples or they do not want to share resources with others.Another drawback is that if peoples live togeather there is a chance of arising a dispute among them. There are also many other drawbacks of living in an apartment

I want to say that construction of tall buildings and apartments is not the only way for the settlement of peoples in the larger cities.Their is a need that every government should raises awarness between peoples of the country for the control of population.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing whether building tall apartment blocks is the best solution for providing housing in large cities. You present a partial position, initially leaning toward tall buildings before discussing drawbacks and concluding that population control is also necessary. However, the development of ideas remains limited and somewhat repetitive. For instance, you mention that tall buildings save land for agriculture and reduce the shelter crisis, but this point is not fully extended with specific examples. The drawbacks are introduced briefly without deep elaboration, such as why people might not want to share resources. Because your arguments lack comprehensive expansion and extension, your response fits best within Band 5.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.5

The essay displays an attempt at organization, featuring an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, the logical progression is frequently disrupted by choppy, single-sentence paragraphs and abrupt transitions between ideas. For example, paragraphs such as "This can save land and this saved land is used for the agriculture and gardening." stand alone without adequate linking to surrounding thoughts. Cohesive devices are used mechanically and sometimes inaccurately, such as starting paragraphs with "The discussions are raising" or repetitive uses of "Another drawback". Referencing is occasionally unclear, and overall paragraphing is inadequate because ideas are broken into too many isolated, underdeveloped blocks rather than unified logical units.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

Your vocabulary range is limited and minimally adequate for discussing the topic of urban housing. You rely on basic terms and make noticeable word-choice and collocation errors throughout the response. Examples include "natural resources are extremely vanishing", "in larger cities and in the crowded palce", and "every government should raises awarness between peoples". Additionally, non-standard plural forms like "peoples" are used repeatedly. These vocabulary and spelling inaccuracies cause some difficulty for the reader and prevent the lexical score from reaching Band 6.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The text demonstrates a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying mostly on simple sentences with frequent attempts at complex structures that contain severe errors. Grammatical inaccuracies are pervasive and often cause difficulty for the reader, matching Band 4 descriptors. Notable errors include subject-verb agreement issues ("Population in the world is growing... and the number... are extremely vanishing"), passive voice errors ("The discussions are raising"), and tense or modal confusion ("some people can not want to live"). Punctuation and article usage are also weak throughout the essay.
