Student answer (Band 4.5)

Nowaday, large cities should be provided the bigest apartment blocks for living their individuals and it can be best way for them. I am largly disgreeof this given statement.

One main reason why i support this idea is that overcrowded. To explin it, when hundreads of families lives in the same area, the population dencity very high.As a result, roads, public transport, scools, and other facilites may become overcrowded. This can lead to traffic congestion, longer waiting times and alower quality of life for residents.Apart from this, lack of ptivate space as well as livving comfort is the main plus point to elaborate it, alot of families , especially thoe with childrens, may prefer a house whit a garden, courtyard or private outdoor area. I high-rise uildings, residents usually share commo space sch as lifts, corridors and playgrounds. this can reduce privecy and may not suit everyones' life. For example, families with young childern may find a house with a small garden more convenient because children can play outside safly and the family has more private space.

Another significant point is expensive. to explain it, high rise building require strong foundations, advanced saftysystems, lifts, electricity systems and maintenance. These costs can make the apartments expensive, so low -income families may still stuggl

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5

The response fails to meet the minimum length requirement of 250 words, containing only 205 words, which directly impacts task fulfillment. Furthermore, there is a contradiction in the introduction where the student states 'it can be best way for them' immediately before claiming 'I am largly disgreeof this given statement', making the exact position slightly unclear initially, though the body paragraphs generally oppose the prompt. Ideas such as overcrowding and high costs are introduced but remain under-developed and abruptly cut off, as seen in the final sentence: 'These costs can make the apartments expensive, so low -income families may still stuggl'. Due to the under-length nature and underdeveloped ideas, the score is limited.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay displays an attempt at paragraphing, but the structure is hindered by abrupt breaks and unfinished sentences. Cohesive devices are minimal and sometimes awkward, such as 'to explain it' repeated multiple times ('To explin it', 'to explain it'). The progression of ideas is disrupted by frequent grammatical errors, poor punctuation, and missing spaces between words and sentences (e.g., 'population dencity very high.As a result'). Paragraphing is present to separate main ideas, but the overall flow and logical sequencing are compromised by the fragmented writing and the incomplete conclusion.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, struggling with accurate word choice and spelling. Examples include 'Nowaday' instead of nowadays, 'bigest' for biggest, 'largly disgreeof' instead of largely disagree with, 'dencity', 'scools', 'ptivate', 'livving', 'thoe', 'childerns', 'whit', 'uildings', 'commo', 'privecy', 'childern', 'safly', and 'stuggl'. There are very few less common lexical items, and the numerous spelling errors and awkward collocations cause difficulty for the reader, placing this performance in the lower bands.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

Grammatical control is weak, with a very limited range of structures and frequent errors. Simple sentences often contain basic structural flaws, such as 'Nowaday, large cities should be provided the bigest apartment blocks for living their individuals'. Attempts at complex sentences are faulty and undermined by poor punctuation, missing articles, and subject-verb agreement errors (e.g., 'when hundreads of families lives in the same area, the population dencity very high'). Punctuation and spacing errors are pervasive throughout the text, frequently impeding communication and meaning.
