Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum length requirement of 250 words, containing only 118 words. Due to this severe under-length, the task can only be addressed minimally. While the student attempts to present an opinion ("I staungly agree with above mentioned statement"), the ideas are extremely underdeveloped and fragmented. The body paragraph mentions job proximity and saving money, but the reasoning is disjointed, incomplete, and difficult to follow. There is a lack of sustained argumentation and relevant examples addressing the prompt regarding tall apartment blocks as a solution to housing shortages in large cities. Consequently, the descriptor for Band 4 is most appropriate.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The essay is divided into two short paragraphs, showing an attempt at paragraphing. However, the overall organisation is disrupted by the incomplete nature of the text. Cohesive devices are minimal and misused, such as the awkward transition "To start with, there are many reasons associated with it." The referencing is faulty, leading to a breakdown in logical progression, particularly in the second paragraph where sentences trail off into ungrammatical and incomprehensible fragments like "Therefore aline job prves useful." Progression is not maintained throughout, leading to a score of 4.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, with several errors in spelling, word choice, and word formation. Examples include "staungly" for strongly, "formost" for foremost, "exp;ain" for explain, "oportunity" for opportunity, and "erused" for earned. The lexical range is severely limited, and errors frequently strain the reader's understanding. Although the student attempts to use some less common words, inaccuracies prevent communication from being smooth, aligning closely with Band 4 descriptors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The grammatical structures attempted are very limited, and frequent errors distort meaning. There are multiple basic errors in punctuation, capitalization, and tense usage. For instance, sentences like "Moreover, it not only help individuals to save money but also provide oportunity to spend times with their family" demonstrate subject-verb agreement errors ("help" instead of "helps", "provide" instead of "provides"). Complex sentence attempts are faulty, and punctuation is largely neglected in the second half of the text. Because errors are frequent and impede understanding, a band score of 4.0 is awarded.
