Student answer (Band 6.0)
The trend of urbanization has been increasing in the contemporary society. The city management authorities need more unrbanization strategies in order to compensate the number of accomodations for people following the trend of urbanization. Some people believe that the construction of high apartment buildings with more floors is the aptest strategy in this regard. I highly disagree with this opinion. There are various reasons for my disagreement. This essay will explain the factors leading to my disregard with this statement.
Initially, the construction process of these buildings require a huge area of land. For this purpose, the authorities are cutting the trees which is leading to the deforestation. As the world is already facing the issues associated with the climate change, the deforestation process is adding another challenge to the projects of climate development. For instance, the trees are the main source of oxygen for the humans. Cutting the trees will lead to insufficient amount of oxygen in the air which in turn will lead to many health problems in the future.
Moreover, the design of such buildings require huge heights in order to make more number of floors in the building. Although this aspect supports infrastructural development and also provides more space for compensating the accomodations without demanding any extra area of land but there are more security risks associated with the huge buildings in the times of earthquake. I have witnessed the destruction of many apartmental buildings due to earthquake in the news from around the world which also took lives of many residential people living in the building.
In conclusion, I beleive that the city management authorities should initiate the sustainable projects of infrastructural development that can effeciently provide the residential spaces for thr individuals while also emphasizing on the sustainable development. The buildings should be constrcted at those places where there will be no need of deforestation. Also, the design of the buildings should ensure the security of the individuals in the time of natural disasters such as earthquake.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The student addresses all parts of the task by presenting a clear position (‘I highly disagree with this opinion’) and supporting it with reasons such as deforestation and seismic risks. However, the development of ideas shows some logical weaknesses, particularly in the first body paragraph where the argument about cutting trees for tall buildings is somewhat generalized and scientifically simplistic (e.g., claiming that cutting trees leads to a lack of oxygen for humans). While the position is maintained throughout, the supporting arguments are a bit simplistic and could be extended with more sophisticated examples. This performance aligns well with Band 6 descriptors.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay has a clear overall arrangement and is divided into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used to signal transitions, such as 'Initially', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion'. However, referencing and cohesion are occasionally mechanical or faulty, as seen in repetitive phrasing like 'urbanization' and somewhat awkward transitional sentences. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, but logical progression within paragraphs could be smoother to reach a higher band.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common items such as 'urbanization', 'compensate', 'infrastructure', and 'deforestation'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, such as 'unrbanization' (urbanisation), 'accomodations' (accommodation), 'aptest' (most apt), 'residential people' (residents), and 'beleive' (believe). These errors do not impede overall communication, but they reflect a Band 6 level where vocabulary control lacks the precision and flexibility required for Band 7.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as conditional and concessive clauses ('Although this aspect supports infrastructural development... but there are more security risks...'). However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation, including subject-verb agreement issues ('the construction process of these buildings require') and redundant double conjunctions ('Although... but...'). Punctuation is generally manageable, and while errors are present, they rarely impede communication, placing the response firmly at Band 6.
