Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position that the writer largely agrees with building tall apartment blocks to provide enough homes in large cities. The essay covers both the benefits of vertical infrastructure, such as efficient space usage and maintenance of facilities, and potential challenges like safety concerns and shifting difficulties. However, some of the ideas are underdeveloped or overly generalized, such as the point about natural views or wealthy individuals preferring large landscapes. While the position is clear throughout, the support for these ideas lacks depth and specific examples from real-world contexts, keeping the response at a Band 6 level for Task Achievement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs discussing advantages and disadvantages, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to divide distinct ideas. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or faulty, as seen with transitional phrases like 'In some possiblities' and 'Moreover, the beauty of natural views, which provided by top floors of tall apartment are not neglageable.' Referencing and linking are occasionally awkward, which disrupts the logical flow and progression, placing this criterion firmly in the Band 6 category.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary range for the task, attempting less common items such as 'infrastructure,' 'aesthetics,' and 'privilleged.' However, there are numerous spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, including 'serval' instead of 'several,' 'villeage' instead of 'village,' 'develope' instead of 'develop,' 'adequant' instead of 'adequate,' 'interupting' instead of 'interrupting,' 'challanges' instead of 'challenges,' 'affraid' instead of 'afraid,' 'laboure' instead of 'labour,' 'disterbance' instead of 'disturbance,' and 'plannig' instead of 'planning.' These errors indicate a limited control of word formation and spelling, which restricts the lexical score to a Band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'In today's era, there is a rapid development can be identified...' and 'Therefore, develope infrastructure vertically is an incredible efficient way...' However, these sentences contain noticeable grammatical errors, including tense and voice confusion, missing prepositions, and incorrect verb forms. Punctuation is also erratic, with misplaced commas frequently breaking sentence structures. Although the meaning remains mostly clear despite the high frequency of errors, the grammatical control is inconsistent and aligns with the Band 5 descriptors.
