Student answer (Band 4.0)
As cities continue to grow and more people move to urban areas, finding enough housing has become a major challenge. i completely agree with this view. one major reason is that the popullation is growing day by day and building more home seems to be impossible. if the givernment provides engouh homes in large cities by constructing large apartment , it would be more easy to deal with this challange. for instance , if the government builds large apartment for the migrantes and those who are victim of climate change , they will feel more comfort. similary, they will no longer affact the climate change. in conculison, building tall apartment block is best way to provide home in cities.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The student attempts to address the task question regarding whether building tall apartment blocks is the best way to provide enough homes in large cities, stating a clear position of agreement. However, the response falls severely short of the mandatory 250-word minimum, containing only 119 words. As a result of this extreme under-length, the ideas cannot be adequately extended or supported. The points raised, such as population growth and helping climate change victims, remain superficial and underdeveloped. According to the task achievement band descriptors, an essay that fails to meet the length requirement and presents only limited, underdeveloped ideas is capped at Band 4.0. To improve, the student must expand their response with detailed explanations, specific examples, and fully articulated arguments.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.5
The text suffers from poor paragraphing and a lack of proper organizational structure, being presented almost as a single block of text with basic capitalization errors at the start of sentences like 'i completely agree' and 'one major reason'. While there are some basic cohesive devices employed, such as 'for instance' and 'similarly', the overall progression of ideas is hindered by the extreme brevity of the response. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the lack of a proper introductory and concluding paragraph structure limits the score. To achieve a higher band, the student needs to organize their writing into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus, and ensure smoother transitions between ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary used is very basic and repetitive, featuring frequent spelling mistakes such as 'popullation', 'home' instead of 'homes', 'givernment', 'engouh', 'migrantes', 'affact', and 'conculison'. The student attempts some less common vocabulary related to the prompt, such as 'migrants' and 'climate change', but the pervasive spelling errors and limited lexical range restrict the score. There is little demonstration of precise word choice or collocation. To improve lexical resource, the student must expand their vocabulary base, learn correct spellings for common academic words, and practice using less common lexical items accurately.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The grammatical range is extremely limited, relying mostly on simple and flawed complex sentence structures. There are numerous punctuation and capitalization errors throughout the text, such as missing capital letters at the beginning of sentences and improper spacing around commas (e.g., 'for instance , if'). Errors are frequent, including subject-verb agreement issues and awkward phrasing like 'it would be more easy' instead of 'easier'. While basic meaning is usually recoverable despite the errors, the high frequency of grammatical and mechanical inaccuracies prevents the response from reaching a higher band. The student needs to focus on sentence variety, correct punctuation, and grammatical accuracy.
