Student answer (Band 5.0)
The topic represents the best way to provide enough homes in large cities: to build tall apartment blocks. I disagree with this statement.
Firstly, building tall apartment blocks creates so many problems; for instance, privacy concerns, noisy environments, and health issues. However, if people are living in apartments, then these people face so many issues, like there being no privacy between family and neighbors because the walls are so thin and attached to each other's homes. By contrast, Karachi is the city of apartments, and a lot of people could pursue living in a flat so these people should face many issues like fighting and shouting with each other so a result olderly people have effect on their health and children should in a stress.
Secondly, the noise pollution is so high in the flats because people should listen to songs at a full volume, and they are shouting loudly when they talk to others. Furthermore, they also interfere in other private talks, and nobody should care about the cleaning; as a result, germ counts may increase and spread disease fast around them. For example, my friend lived in a flat with family last year, and these became ill for all family members because of the dirty environment in an apartment.
Moreover, some apartments should be clean and furnished and located in peaceful places, but they are so high-rated that everyone should not be offered such a price, so some prefer normal apartments rather than luxury. Sometimes, providing enough homes in large cities is to build tall apartment blocks that provide a benefits like less pollution, over-crowded areas, etc.
In the conclusion, private homes are a better option than living in an apartment because there is no privacy in the flats, and children should not develop their mental well being to living there.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The candidate addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position against building tall apartment blocks, providing several arguments related to privacy, noise pollution, and health issues. However, the development of these ideas is limited and often repetitive. For instance, the discussion regarding Karachi and olderly people is unclear and lacks coherent support. While all parts of the task are addressed, the arguments tend to over-generalise and lack deep elaboration, placing the response firmly in Band 5.0. Some points shift focus slightly near the end, mentioning benefits like less pollution, which contradicts the main thesis without sufficient contextualisation.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay attempts to organise ideas using basic cohesive devices such as Firstly, Secondly, Furthermore, and In the conclusion. However, the overall progression is hampered by disjointed sentences and unclear referencing. For instance, the transition between sentences within paragraphs often feels abrupt, and the pronoun reference in phrases like these became ill for all family members is ambiguous. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal logical flow within paragraphs is frequently faulty or repetitive, which corresponds to the Band 5.0 descriptors for cohesion and paragraph structure.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The lexical resource is limited and minimally adequate for the task. The student uses basic vocabulary such as big problems, clean, and nice, alongside attempts at less common items like noise pollution, private homes, and luxury. However, noticeable errors in word choice and collocation appear throughout, such as olderly people have effect on their health and high-rated instead of expensive. These lexical slips occasionally cause strain for the reader, aligning the vocabulary performance with a Band 5.0 level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but attempts at complex structures are frequently faulty, leading to awkward phrasing and grammatical errors. Examples include children should in a stress and these became ill for all family members because of the dirty environment in an apartment. Frequent errors in verb tense, prepositions, and modal usage (e.g., olderly people have effect instead of elderly people are affected) create difficulty for the reader at times. Punctuation is also basic. These features reflect the Band 5.0 grammatical descriptors.
