Student answer (Band 5.0)

Home is an neccessary requirement for human beings to live. There is an opinion that vertical cities are enough to provide homes to people living in vast cities.I wholeheartedly agree with it and explanation has given below in essay.

In my opinion, it is better to build heighted apartments rather than make homes for every single family. In a apartment of 50 floors—thousands of families can live in it without any challenge. For instance, Dubai city in UAE is the present sample of how huge numbers of people live in a single town. Less place can be used for tallest apartments but if we build homes for each family we need a enormous land. Vertical cities will be the future.

We should need to develop the residential units than big homes, so, we use extra space to make playgrounds, parks, clubs and many more–where people can do activites and do some fun.

Government need to pay some focus on building apartments, because, it can also reduce the financial burden of the authorities. Homeless people could be reduced. So, government can pay attention on the other issues of the country.Governments should need to make bussines for the tallest building, it can generate more revenue for country and if the cities has extra tourist stops the more visitors can come.

In conclusion, homes are essential for everyone but apartments provide more space to live. I can love if the government take intiative to make vertical residential units and make spots for different extracurriculum activities on extra land for the families and the visitors.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The candidate addresses the prompt directly by taking a clear stance agreeing with the statement that tall apartment blocks are the best way to provide housing. The position is maintained throughout the essay. However, the development of ideas remains somewhat superficial. For example, the mention of Dubai as a sample and the points regarding government revenue and tourism are introduced but not fully extended. While all parts of the prompt are addressed, the arguments lack depth and rely on general assertions rather than robust supporting evidence. This performance aligns best with the Band 6 descriptors, where relevant ideas are presented, but some are under-developed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into an introduction, three body paragraphs, and a brief conclusion, showing a basic structural progression. However, paragraphing and logical transitions are often awkward. For instance, the transition 'We should need to develop...' introduces a new paragraph topic abruptly, and cohesive devices are sometimes repetitive or misused, such as 'so, we use' and 'because, it can also'. Referencing can also be unclear, as seen in phrases like 'explanation has given below in essay'. Overall arrangement is coherent enough to follow, but cohesion is mechanical and faulty at times, fitting the Band 5 descriptors.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary range to communicate ideas about housing and urban development, utilizing terms like 'residential units', 'financial burden', and 'revenue'. However, there are frequent word-choice errors, inappropriate collocations, and spelling mistakes throughout the text. Examples include 'neccessary', 'heighted apartments', 'Less place can be used', 'bussines', and 'extracurriculum activities'. These inaccuracies reflect a limited and developing lexical range, and while communication is generally maintained, the frequency of errors prevents the score from reaching a Band 6.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as conditional structures ('if we build homes... we need...') and relative clauses ('where people can do activites'). However, the text contains frequent grammatical errors, particularly with modal verbs and verb forms ('explanation has given', 'We should need to', 'Government need', 'Governments should need to make bussines'). Punctuation and spacing errors are also prevalent, such as missing spaces after periods and commas. Because errors are frequent and occasionally cause difficulty for the reader, the performance sits firmly at Band 5.
