Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response only contains 127 words, falling significantly short of the 250-word minimum requirement. This severe under-length prevents the writer from fully addressing all parts of the task or properly extending ideas. While the student takes a clear position by stating 'I do agree with the statement,' the arguments provided—such as saving space and providing basic facilities—are repetitive and remain underdeveloped. For example, assertions like 'They occupy less space' are restated multiple times without being expanded upon with concrete examples or deeper analysis. Consequently, the task response is limited, and the score reflects this lack of adequate development and severe word count deficit.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.5

The essay lacks proper paragraphing, presented instead as a single block of text which disrupts the overall structure. While there is a basic logical progression from introducing the agreement to listing advantages of tall buildings, the flow is hindered by repetitive statements and abrupt transitions, such as 'And above of all, They occupy less space. people do have'. Cohesive devices are minimal and basic, relying heavily on simple conjunctions like 'and' or repetitive phrasing. Referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in the incomplete concluding sentence. Overall arrangement is rudimentary, pointing towards a band 4.5 to 5.0 level, but due to the lack of paragraphing and basic cohesion, it fits a Band 4.5 descriptor closely, rounded to 4.5.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The lexical resource is basic and repetitive, frequently reusing words and phrases such as 'tall buildings', 'space', and 'stylish'. The student attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'compensate', 'modern colonization', and 'facilities', but word choices and collocations are sometimes unnatural or inaccurate, such as 'compensate the houses for growing population' and 'one house in built on other one'. Spelling is generally acceptable, but the limited vocabulary range and noticeable errors in word choice cause some difficulty for the reader and restrict the score to this band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The text displays a limited range of grammatical structures, consisting mostly of simple and low-level compound sentences, with attempts at complex structures frequently resulting in error. Examples of grammatical and punctuation errors include missing articles, incorrect prepositions, and awkward phrasing, such as 'elevators for there ease' and 'one house in built on other one'. The response ends abruptly with an incomplete sentence ('people do have'). These frequent errors and the lack of structural variety cause noticeable difficulty and detract from the overall clarity of the communication.
