Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt regarding tall apartment blocks as a solution for housing in large cities, presenting a clear position that agrees with the statement. The writer attempts to support this with ideas related to cost savings, environmental preservation, and shared facilities like parking and security. However, the development of these ideas is frequently hindered by extremely unclear phrasing, such as 'They collect the money to invest on flats as compare to build house,' making it difficult to fully grasp the arguments. While all parts of the task are touched upon, the reasoning lacks adequate extension and clarity, placing this response at Band 5.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.5
The essay is divided into paragraphs, including an introduction, body paragraphs, and a brief conclusion. However, the overall organisation and progression of ideas are severely disrupted by numerous mechanical and inappropriate cohesive devices, such as 'To initaite with,' 'Nevertheless,' and 'To be conclude .' Referencing is often confusing, with pronouns like 'They' and 'It' used ambiguously without clear antecedents. The flow between sentences is disjointed, and the mechanical repetition of transitional phrases indicates an inadequate and repetitive control of cohesion, aligning with a Band 4.5 score.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary used is very basic and repetitive, featuring frequent word-formation errors and inaccurate collocations throughout the text, such as 'Population increse,' 'developer countries,' 'inaтиarly accept,' and 'invent money' instead of 'invest money.' There are also noticeable spelling errors like 'eassy' and 'grocercy.' The range of vocabulary is limited and minimally adequate for conveying very simple meaning, but errors frequently cause strain and difficulty for the reader, which is characteristic of Band 4.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The text contains a very limited range of grammatical structures, and attempts at complex sentences are almost entirely faulty and obscured by punctuation and syntax errors, such as 'If individuals spent money on flats and apartments .They collect the money to invest on flats as compare to build house.' Simple sentences frequently contain basic errors, including missing articles, incorrect verb forms, and fragmented clauses. Errors are extremely frequent throughout every sentence and often distort the intended meaning, reflecting the descriptors for a Band 4.0.
