Student answer (Band 5.5)
In this civilized era, people really want to grow in their life by doing something good. They move to the city to find some better opportunities to improve the lifestyle. As a result, there are some shortage of homes in large cities. The best way to provide enough homes in large cities is to build tall apartment blocks. I completely agree with this statement cause this is the best idea.
First and foremost i agree with this statement because it's the only way to solve the problem of living. Providing sufficient house in a large city is the major challenge. People usually move to city to get better opportunity to grow in their life. For that, they stay in city and they try to find a job. But, the number of homes is not enough to give them accommodation. But if we can build tall buildings with apartment blocks it will be a excellent solution. Cause people can stay there. they don't have to suffer for accommodation rather than stay in street.
Another reason i agree with this statement cause tall buildings do not consume large areas rather than a one storied house. It also helps to save the land for playground and wildlife. In this civilized era, there is no playground for children to grow their mind. As well as there is no area for the animals to live. This is one of the biggest reason to build tall apartments. Children should have a playground to play games. It is also important to grow mentally and physically. Moreover, they usually concentrate into video games. Without any playground they cannot grown mentally.
In conclusion, tall buildings can provide large number of accommodation for living to the outsiders. Moreover, It will save the land for goods. I believe that it will be the only solution to save both sides. So, I strongly agree with this tall apartment blocks are the best way to provide enough homes

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The student addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position agreeing with the proposal to build tall apartment blocks in large cities. Key ideas such as accommodating rural-to-urban migrants and preserving land for green spaces or wildlife are presented and supported with general reasoning. However, the development remains somewhat repetitive, particularly regarding the desire for better opportunities and the need for playgrounds. While a clear stance is maintained from the introductory paragraph through to the conclusion, the arguments lack depth and rely on over-generalised points. This places the response comfortably at Band 6, where the task is addressed and relevant ideas are presented, though some parts are slightly under-developed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response is arranged logically into four paragraphs, following a standard essay structure with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'First and foremost', 'Another reason', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion' are used to signal the progression of ideas, although some transitions feel mechanical or repetitive, such as the frequent reuse of 'I agree with this statement because'. Paragraphing is handled appropriately, ensuring that each main idea has its own section. Referencing is generally clear, though minor cohesive slips occur, such as sentence fragments and repetitive phrasing. Overall, the organizational structure meets the requirements for a Band 6 score.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the student to communicate basic ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common items and topic-specific vocabulary, such as 'accommodation', 'civilized era', and 'wildlife'. However, there are notable limitations and inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'live in city to get better opportunity' instead of 'opportunities', and 'save the land for goods' instead of 'green spaces'. Spelling is generally acceptable, but lexical errors and repetition of words like 'city', 'stay', and 'playground' restrict the range. The lexical control aligns with the Band 5 descriptors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting complex structures with conditional clauses ('But if we can build tall buildings...') and relative clauses. However, grammatical accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in articles ('a excellent solution', 'the number of homes is not enough'), prepositions, and sentence boundaries, including fragments like 'Cause people can stay there.' and 'Without any playground they cannot grown mentally.' Punctuation is also occasionally faulty. While communication is not severely impeded, the frequency of errors places this response at Band 5.
