Student answer (Band 5.0)
The best way to provide enough homes is to build tall appartments . The statement is pretty clear as i agree with this.
The tall appartments can relatively fullfiled the need of housing crisis, especially in the bigger cities where there is a shortage of homes due to over population. Tall apartments can overcome the situation when people from other cities want to shift due to their jobs or educational prefrences, but they dont get the places to live and they are enforced by the circumstances to do daily travel from their place to another city.
Housing congestion can only be overwhelmed by the establishment of tall and facilitated appartmants. It will help people to get rid of this extreme problem and is also good for their mental relaxation.
It will also give too much opportunity to other people who want to come to do a jobs in that city but scared of the housing shortages.
But there is one risk factor that should be make sured by the government to used the high quality materials to make large building such as apartments. It is due to the fact that main building on which more apartments will be established should have proper heavy weight bearing capacity or cannot be damaged by any natural disasters or any weather conditions . This can only be possible by using shock proofs materials for building. By doing this step it will fully facilitate the community towards saftey. I found building tall appartment will be a positive step towards housing crisis.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt regarding whether building tall apartment blocks is the best way to provide homes in large cities. The student takes a clear position in the introduction, stating agreement with the statement. Ideas are presented to support this view, such as alleviating the housing crisis due to overpopulation and accommodating workers and students. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive, with arguments remaining at a general level without deep extension. For instance, the point about natural disasters and building materials is introduced in the final paragraph as a risk factor, which relates loosely to the theme of building tall blocks. Overall, the task is addressed, but the depth of support aligns best with a Band 5 or 6 descriptor. Because the ideas are relevant and a clear position is maintained, a band score of 5.5 is appropriate.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is divided into multiple paragraphs, attempting to group ideas logically, such as separating housing shortages from structural safety and materials. However, paragraphing is sometimes basic and choppy, with very short opening lines like 'The best way to provide enough homes is to build tall appartments . The statement is pretty clear as i agree with this.' Cohesive devices are used simply and repetitively, with reliance on connectors like 'It will also' and 'By doing this step'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as 'main building on which more apartments will be established'. Progression within paragraphs is hampered by repetitive phrasing and limited cohesive ties. While the text has an overarching logic, the mechanical execution and faulty referencing place it firmly in the Band 5 range.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The student uses a limited and repetitive vocabulary range that is minimally adequate for the task. Words such as 'appartments' (consistently misspelled with a double 'p'), 'housing crisis', 'shortage', and 'government' are repeated frequently. There are noticeable lexical errors, such as 'relatively fullfiled the need of housing crisis', 'educational prefrences', 'dont get the places', 'enforced by the circumstances', and 'shock proofs materials'. These errors in word choice, collocation, and spelling occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. While attempts are made to use less common items like 'overwhelmed', 'congestion', and 'disasters', they are often awkwardly deployed. The vocabulary profile is consistent with the Band 5 descriptors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'Tall apartments can overcome the situation when people from other cities want to shift...' and 'It is due to the fact that main building...'. However, grammatical accuracy is weak, with frequent errors across the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues and tense/voice mistakes such as 'should be make sured by the government to used', 'can only be possible', 'to do a jobs', and 'scared of the housing shortages'. Punctuation and spacing errors, such as spaces before periods and commas, also detract from the quality. Because complex sentences are frequently faulty and errors are recurrent, the grammar aligns with a Band 5 score.
