Student answer (Band 4.5)
I completely disagree with the statement
This essay will discuss the both views and giving my opinion
Initially I want to discuss the advantages of big building having great numbers of apartments . The main advantage is we can build a building in a small area in this many people get there own apartment . This will leave the space for agriculture. we can utilize the remaining land for the beneficial purpose like we use it for agriculture or build a public park for people
In addition, having a apartment on the upper floors of the building also gives you a better view which will also beneficial for your mental health. You can also improve your mood through this moreover it is very enjoyable. most of the people says that it is too difficult to reach on your floor through statement but you can use the elevator instead of using the stears
Now I gonna talk about the disadvantages of the apartment. The first disadvantage of the apartment is that you cant use solar electricity as far as I can see its a very significant issues. In the world of free electricity through solar panels you are paying very high electricity bills
this may effect you financially
In conclusion after having a view on both advantages and disadvantages I wanna say that apartment is a beneficial choice people should move on to the apartment. Government or people should utilize the remaining land for agriculture and infrastructure to improve the quality of life

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The student attempts to address the prompt by discussing both the advantages and disadvantages of tall apartment blocks, ultimately taking a clear position in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and superficial. For instance, the discussion on mental health and views from upper floors is quite simplistic, and the argument regarding solar electricity is poorly integrated. The prompt asks 'To what extent do you agree or disagree?', and while the student states an initial disagreement, the body paragraphs actually list advantages before a single disadvantage, which creates some confusion regarding their stance. Ideas are presented but not fully extended or supported with robust examples, placing this response at Band 5.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The response suffers from severe issues with paragraphing, punctuation, and structural flow. The essay begins with a run-on opening and lacks proper sentence boundary demarcation throughout, often missing full stops entirely (e.g., 'I completely disagree with the statement This essay will discuss the both views and giving my opinion'). Paragraph breaks are attempted, but the internal logical progression is weak. Cohesive devices are either missing, inadequate, or repetitive, such as the overuse of 'In addition' and 'Now I gonna talk about'. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the lack of basic punctuation makes the text difficult to follow, aligning closely with the Band 4.0 descriptors.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, with limited range appropriate for an academic task. Words like 'big', 'good', and 'beneficial' are relied upon heavily. There are frequent word choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'statement' instead of 'stairs' ('reach on your floor through statement... instead of using the stears') and 'beneficial purpose'. Spelling errors ('stears', 'effect' instead of 'affect') and grammatical vocabulary mismatches are noticeable and occasionally cause strain for the reader, placing the lexical resource clearly at a Band 4.0 level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The grammatical range is very limited, consisting mostly of simple and attempted complex sentences that are marred by frequent errors. There is an almost total absence of correct punctuation, leading to massive run-on sentences and comma splices. Errors in verb tense and agreement are common, such as 'This essay will discuss the both views and giving my opinion', 'most of the people says', and 'Now I gonna talk'. These frequent structural and mechanical errors heavily distort meaning and impede smooth reading, corresponding to a Band 4.0.
