Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is widely argued that great dicision to provide enough homes in big cities is to build tall apartment blocks.I completely agree with the view because tall apartments help government and this this is also beneficial for people.
Firstly.the main reason is that tall apartment use less land. In big cities land is very expensive, there is not much space available for living. If many floors are build in same land there is a huge number of families are able to live in same building.this also help save open land out of the city, which is good for the environment.
Another main reason is that tall apartment should be build near market where individuals can travel anywhere which consume less feul in this way people can work faster. They can also save money because they do not need to travel so far. This makes many life easier for people.
On the other hand, tall apartment blocks can have some problems. If they are not planned well, they can become crowded and noisy. Therefore, the government should make sure that these buildings have enough parking, safety systems, and parks for children. This will make life more comfortable for the people who live there.
In conclusion, I believe that building tall apartment blocks is the best way to provide enough homes in large cities. Although there are a few disadvantages, the benefits are greater because more people can live in a small area and have easy access to important places like schools and hospitals and markets where people can go and buy any thing they want.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, taking a clear position that tall apartment blocks are the best way to supply homes in large cities. The writer presents relevant main ideas, such as land conservation, economic efficiency, and proximity to urban amenities, while also acknowledging potential drawbacks like crowding and noise. However, the development of these ideas tends to be somewhat superficial and repetitive, characteristic of a Band 6. For instance, the discussion on land usage and transport savings is stated simply without deep elaboration or sophisticated examples. Despite these limitations in depth, the position is maintained throughout, and all core requirements of the task are met satisfactorily.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear paragraph-by-paragraph structure, including an introduction, body paragraphs addressing advantages and disadvantages, and a conclusion. However, cohesion is often faulty or mechanical. There are numerous punctuation errors, missing spaces after periods (e.g., 'Firstly.the main reason'), and basic or repetitive cohesive devices. Paragraphing is used, but referencing can sometimes be unclear, such as ambiguous pronoun use ('this this is also beneficial'). While the progression of ideas is discernible, the lack of smooth transitions and mechanical execution of cohesive ties places this response firmly at Band 5.5.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The student displays an adequate vocabulary range for the task, successfully using functional terms related to urban living such as 'government', 'environment', 'crowded', and 'disadvantages'. However, there are frequent errors in spelling and word choice, such as 'dicision' instead of decision, 'feul' instead of fuel, and awkward collocations like 'make many life easier'. Attempts to use less common vocabulary are often marred by inaccuracies. The lexical control is sufficient to convey the general meaning, but noticeable errors in word formation and spelling restrict the score to Band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The student uses a mix of simple and some complex sentence forms, such as conditional structures ('If many floors are build in same land...') and subordinate clauses ('Although there are a few disadvantages...'). However, grammatical accuracy is weak, featuring frequent errors such as subject-verb agreement issues ('tall apartment use'), missing articles, incorrect pluralisation ('tall apartment blocks' vs 'tall apartment'), and passive voice errors ('are build'). Punctuation is notably weak, with missing spaces after periods throughout the text. These frequent errors cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a Band 5.0 level.
