Student answer (Band 4.5)

In commercial cities, people from all around the country come to work and settled here. This creates problems of shortage of houses for the people who lives in a city. I have mixed opinion regarding and i will explain it with suitable examples.

The outsiders who migrated for work purpose can easily be living in an apartment. Furthermore, people who are alone or have one or two family members prefer apartment. Therefore, living in an building provide security, and safety. Other reason is that, building tall apartment blocks take less land areas as compared to the houses due to which city looks clean. For instance, tall and high rise building can increase the beauty of the city. Increase in tourist attraction can also benefit the country.

Another reason is that, apartment have all the ammenities like, schools, hospitals parks and playing area. This allow small families to shift to the apartments. Consequently, having all the basic activites in one area. Although there are several advantages, but i also don't agree with some of the reasons. The one is privac

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response is severely incomplete, cutting off mid-sentence with only 179 words, which fails to meet the 250-word minimum requirement. Because of this under-length, the task is only partially addressed, and the ideas cannot be fully developed. Although the writer attempts to present a position ('I have mixed opinion regarding'), the lack of a proper conclusion and the sudden halt mean the arguments about safety, efficiency, and amenities remain truncated and undeveloped. Consequently, the task achievement score is limited strictly by the inadequate word count and incomplete development of ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response shows an attempt at basic organisation with distinct paragraph breaks, but the overall progression is disrupted by the abrupt ending of the text. Cohesive devices are used at a very basic level, such as 'Furthermore', 'Therefore', and 'For instance'. However, referencing and logical transitions are sometimes faulty; for example, the phrase 'Other reason is that, building tall apartment blocks take less land areas' demonstrates mechanical linking. Paragraphing is initiated properly, but the final paragraph breaks down completely due to the unfinished sentence ('The one is privac').

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for basic communication but lacks the range and precision expected for academic writing. The student employs some relevant words such as 'migrated', 'tourist attraction', and 'amenities', but also includes several spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'settled' instead of 'settle', 'lives' instead of 'live', 'ammenities', and 'activites'. Furthermore, there is inappropriate collocation, such as 'build tall apartment blocks take less land areas'. The range is quite limited, and the vocabulary cannot be fully assessed due to the truncated length.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as conditional and subordinate clauses ('The outsiders who migrated for work purpose can easily be living in an apartment'). However, grammatical accuracy is weak, featuring frequent errors such as subject-verb agreement issues ('people who lives', 'apartment have', 'building take'), missing articles ('in an building', 'have all the ammenities like, schools, hospitals parks'), and awkward verb forms. Because the text cuts off abruptly, it is difficult to evaluate a sustained command of complex syntax.
