Student answer (Band 4.5)

Housing is important for every indivuials living in large cities, but building tall apartment is not a better opition for some peoples.

In my veiw, cities should be built in such way where all the residents can have comfortable enviorment with nature. For example, a city already have tall building like malls, offices, shoping area, etc. and if more apartment are developed near these building then their will be blockage of natural sunlight, with no proper air, the surroundings will be conjusted for every indiviuals living in the city. Hence forth, leads to health issues as well as psychological problems in some age groups.

Secondly, providing homes for indiviuals some time increase problem in housing society. For instance, a city with 100,000 population can exceed more if more house are made, such accomodation will not only effect the residents but will also be over crowed for rest of the indivuals to live in. Moreover, there should be a limit for living in city to reduced distress and provide a livily hood to every indiviudals.

Therefore, I strongly diagree with building new apartment blocks in the urban area.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position against building tall apartment blocks, but it suffers from significant limitations. First, the length requirement of 250 words has not been met, as the student's response contains only 187 words. This under-length impacts the overall development of ideas. While the writer attempts to present arguments regarding natural light, health issues, and overcrowding, these ideas remain somewhat under-developed and lack fully articulated supporting examples. Because the response is significantly short and ideas are limited, it falls under the Band 5 descriptors, where the task is only partially addressed and ideas are under-developed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a short conclusion, showing an attempt at paragraphing. However, the logical progression is frequently disrupted by awkward transitions and confusing phrasing, such as 'Hence forth, leads to health issues' and 'some time increase problem'. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or inaccurately, and referencing is occasionally unclear (e.g., 'such accomodation will not only effect the residents but will also be over crowed for rest of the indivuals'). These issues place the writing firmly in Band 5, where there is some organisation, but overall progression is unclear and cohesive devices are inadequate or inaccurate.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, with frequent spelling and word-choice errors that occasionally strain the reader. Examples of misspellings and non-standard forms include 'indivuials', 'opition', 'peoples', 'veiw', 'enviorment', 'shoping', 'conjusted', 'indiviuals', 'diagree', and 'lively hood'. The range of vocabulary is limited to everyday words, and attempts at less common items result in non-standard collocations or incorrect forms. This aligns with the Band 4 descriptor, where basic vocabulary is used and errors strain the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but grammatical accuracy is very weak throughout the text. There are frequent errors in verb tense, subject-verb agreement, and sentence construction, such as 'cities should be built in such way where all the residents can have', 'a city already have tall building', and 'their will be blockage'. Punctuation and word form errors are also prominent. Because errors are frequent and occasionally obscure meaning, the writing matches the Band 4 level for grammar and accuracy.
