Student answer (Band 5.0)
The excellent way to provide enough homes in big cities is to built tall apartment blocks. I agreed this statement to a little extent, it has advantages as well as disadvantages. I will discuss both and also I will give the reasons to support my answer.
Firstly, build large apartments in big cities is a best way to provide enough room but in case of any natural disasters due to large size it may has more chances to fall. Also in case of earth quake due to its structure it may has more chances to fall and people will die who live inside the building. For example, once my parental uncle live in a apartment due to some reasons and the building structure was same, it is a tall building including 15 floors and 36 apartments, fortunately my uncle go outside to attend a meeting and then suddenly earth quake occured and destroy the building.
It is also has advantages, if the structure, width and material are good then it will reduce the chances to fall and people will live peacefully inside the apartments. It will also save area to plough fields. For example, in Japan the buildings have the structure like in case of any disaster, they will maintain their structures and there is much more need to Pakistan to copy the Japan structure plan, then the tall apartment blocks are safe for the people to live in. So, it is beneficial but if the structure is liveable.
To sum up, tall aparment blocks are good for the people and also it saves enough area for fields. So, it is beneficial for the people and also for the government but in case of good structure.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the advantages and disadvantages of building tall apartment blocks, attempting to present a position ('I agreed this statement to a little extent'). However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. The arguments rely heavily on a single example regarding natural disasters and building safety (e.g., 'once my parental uncle live in a apartment...'), rather than exploring broader socioeconomic, urban planning, or environmental aspects. While all parts of the task are touched upon, the support remains underdeveloped, aligning closely with Band 5 descriptors where ideas are present but lack sufficient extension.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, with an introduction, body paragraphs addressing advantages and disadvantages, and a conclusion. However, the logical progression is frequently disrupted by awkward transitions and repetitive phrasing (e.g., 'It is also has advantages...', 'So, it is beneficial...'). Cohesive devices are used mechanically and sometimes inaccurately. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal cohesion within the body paragraphs is weak, particularly in the first body paragraph where the anecdote about the uncle abruptly shifts the focus without clear logical linking.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently relying on simple words like 'good', 'big', 'place', and 'things'. There are noticeable word choice and collocation errors, such as 'build large apartments... is a best way', 'earth quake', and 'aparment'. Less common vocabulary is attempted with limited success or inappropriate collocations (e.g., 'copy the Japan structure plan'). The lexical range is minimally adequate to convey basic ideas, but errors and limitations cause some difficulty and prevent the score from reaching a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5
The essay displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, with frequent basic errors. Simple sentences dominate, and attempts at complex structures often result in grammatical errors, incorrect verb forms, and run-on sentences (e.g., 'I agreed this statement to a little extent, it has advantages as well as disadvantages' and 'it may has more chances to fall'). Issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'it has', 'building structure was same') and tense consistency are common throughout the text. These frequent errors cause strain for the reader.
