Student answer (Band 5.5)
In today's reapidly evolving world, the issue of shortage of houses has sparked considerable debate, with various opinion divided wheater it is harmful or beneficial. Although the provided argument hold both merits and demerits, but I strongly inclined to agree with the view because manufacturing of hundred of apartments in tall buildings provide shelter to millions of citizens and is much more affordable.
To begin with, one of the convincing reasons for this view is it plays a crucial role in providing homes hundreds of citizens. This factor has far received much attention especially in big cities and rapid urbanization leads to shortage of homes. For instance, in America due high rise of urban population government decided to build apartment blocks so that hundred of people can live easily. This examle clearly illustrates hoe this outcome has manefested in real life. Moreover, it demonstrates that how the benefits of it can outweigh its potential drawbacks. Therefore, this strengthen the case for manufacturing hundreds of apartments as a logiacal and forward thinking stance.
Equally important is the fact that apartments are much more affordable , which further reinforce my beleif. This become even more relevant when considering that construction of tall buildings with million of apartments in less apace provide a chance to an individual that they can manage to buy a shelter in much cheaper price, where the practical advantages are evident. Over time, such outcomes contribute to long term stability , progress and indvidual well being. As such, this prespective not only align with practical needs but also reflect sound judgement in adressing modern challanges.
In conclusion, although it is understandable that some may take different view but I firmly beleive that the best way to provide enough homes is to build tall buildings with hundreds of apartmnets. The reasons above supports both logic and evidence make this position both reasonablr and well supported. With clear advantages and measureable impacts, the opinion stands as the most convincing and constructive one.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by clearly taking a stance in agreement with the statement that tall apartment blocks are the best way to provide housing. The student attempts to support this position with arguments regarding shelter provision and affordability. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive, with several generalizations and slight digressions regarding urbanization causes rather than focusing strictly on the prompt's core question. While a clear position is maintained throughout the essay, the arguments lack depth and concrete supporting evidence beyond vague references. Overall, the response meets the basic requirements of addressing the task, aligning closely with the descriptors for Band 5.5 to 6.0, settling securely at Band 5.5 due to the under-developed nature of the supporting examples.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into distinct paragraphs, following a standard introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion structure. However, logical progression is frequently hindered by repetitive transitions and mechanical cohesive devices, such as 'To begin with,' 'Moreover,' and 'Equally important is the fact that.' Referencing is occasionally unclear, and some sentences feel disjointed or clumsily connected, such as the transition into the example about America. Paragraphing is present and serves to separate main ideas, but the overall internal flow of the body paragraphs lacks seamless transitions. These characteristics place the response firmly in the Band 5.5 range, reflecting basic organizational structure with notable flaws in cohesion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to communicate basic ideas about housing and cities, but it suffers from frequent spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'reapidly,' 'wheater,' 'hold,' 'inclined' (used with 'strongly inclined' redundantly with 'agree'), 'apace' instead of space, and 'prespective.' There are attempts to use less common vocabulary like 'urbanization' and 'stability,' but inaccurate collocations and persistent spelling mistakes (e.g., 'manefested,' 'logiacal,' 'beleif,' 'challanges,' 'apartmnets') frequently distract the reader and impede fluent reading. This performance matches the Band 5 descriptors, where noticeable errors and limited lexical control restrict the score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but control over grammar is weak. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('argument hold,' 'urbanization leads,' 'reasons above supports'), tense inconsistencies, and missing articles ('due high rise'). Complex sentence attempts often contain structural faults, such as 'although it is understandable that some may take different view but I firmly beleive,' which features double marking of concession and contrast. Although the meaning can generally be understood, errors are frequent enough to cause difficulty for the reader and prevent the text from reaching a Band 6.
