Student answer (Band 5.0)
It is argued that build tall apartment blocks provide enough homes in big cities. Although skyscrapers look beautiful and provide maximum number of families for living but this essay disagree with the statement. There is a limited space, only for small families and no financial security.
First reason is the shortage of space. The space for living and storage is limited in apartments, therefore this is preferable for smaller families. Furthermore, less space available for storage beacuse limited number of rooms provide in apartments. For instance, A family of six members live in a two or three bedroom apartment, there is no space for storage, guest room, study room and no specific laundary area provide. As a result, aparments should not appropriate for big family as well as they does not provide a systematic living.
Another reason is that, people who live in apartments are not financialy stronge because they have no property as their own. Mostly they pay rent every month which is not benefical for some families, this thing does not allow them to save money. For example, a family live in apartment for a long time but at the end they have no financial feeling. Property is a saving which should benefical in worst time.
In conclusion, tall building apartments are look nice but in a practical sense it have many draw

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position against the statement, but the ideas are limited and underdeveloped. Furthermore, the length requirement has not been met, as the response contains only 224 words, which falls short of the 250-word minimum. This under-length impacts the overall development of the task. While the student attempts to provide reasons regarding space limitations and financial security, the arguments lack depth and effective elaboration. For instance, the discussion on storage and family size is repetitive, and the point about financial security lacks robust analytical reasoning. Because the word count minimum was not achieved and the arguments remain somewhat basic and under-developed, this performance aligns closely with Band 5 descriptors.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
There is some basic organisation with the use of introductory and concluding paragraphs, as well as clear body paragraph dividers ('First reason is', 'Another reason is'). However, there is a lack of overall logical progression due to abrupt transitions and incomplete sentences, notably in the conclusion which cuts off mid-sentence ('it have many draw'). Cohesive devices are sometimes inaccurate or awkward, such as the overuse of simple structural connectors. Paragraphing is attempted, but the final paragraph is severely truncated, failing to provide a satisfactory summary of the main points. Referencing and substitution are occasionally faulty, causing minor disruptions for the reader. These features reflect the characteristics of a Band 5 performance.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is relatively basic and repetitive, with frequent reliance on simple words like 'space', 'family', and 'apartment'. There are noticeable lexical errors and awkward collocations throughout the text, such as 'build tall apartment blocks' instead of building tall apartment blocks, 'financialy stronge' instead of financially strong, and 'financial feeling'. Additionally, spelling and word formation errors appear, such as 'laundary' and 'benefical'. The lexical range is minimally adequate for communicating basic ideas, but the persistent errors in word choice and spelling cause some difficulty and prevent the response from reaching a higher band, placing it firmly at Band 5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response displays a very limited range of grammatical structures. While there are some attempts at complex sentences, these are frequently faulty, such as 'Although skyscrapers look beautiful and provide maximum number of families for living but this essay disagree'. Grammatical errors are frequent throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('aparments should not appropriate', 'they does not provide'), missing articles, and incorrect verb forms ('is argued that build'). Furthermore, punctuation and sentence boundary errors are present, including the incomplete final sentence. These persistent structural errors and the limited variety of error-free sentences are indicative of a Band 5 level.
