Student answer (Band 5.0)

The good way to give enough residence in big cities is to produce tall apartment complex. In the modern world, rapid population growth and highly crowded cities cause residence shortages, and people should decide what type of residence would be more suitable to alleviate this problem. Some people believe that tall apartment blocks would be the best way to provide enough homes in large cities. Although tall apartments can cause inconvenience and concern, I agree that it will remain the best option for several reasons.

On the other hand, population is very high in pakistan, thry have very beautiful house society.but some city are best way for low budget people us very beautiful enough house. so, I think many people live in big cities for best way for enough home in building society.so, many city are enoiugh home for low byudget home in big cities but small city have big population live but not some opportunies in small cities. because many people is travel for big cities opportunies such as university, jobs, bussiness and study.

On the other hand, the many people live in big city but they have many opportunies produce government but people also easy work in big city such as lahore, Islamabad, karachi and other city. so I think many people working for big cities to built tall building for working and beautiful appartment for many low budget people live in appartment for comfortable feel or relax.so I think many people live in big cities because they have many opportunies produce in big city.

In my opininon,In the moden world, rapid population growth and hightly crowded cities cause resisdence shortages. but som e people enjoy in big becuse they have many opportunies in crowded cities. so, I think many people comfortable for working , bussiness and education are provide in large cities.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt regarding whether tall apartment blocks are the best way to provide homes in large cities, taking a clear stance in agreement. However, the development of ideas in the body paragraphs is severely limited by repetitive phrasing and wandering digressions, such as the sudden mention of Pakistan and specific local cities without clear integration into a global argument. While the writer expresses a general position that tall buildings provide low-budget housing and access to opportunities, the ideas are underdeveloped and lack cohesive elaboration. Consequently, the task is only partially addressed, leading to a Band 5.0 level of achievement under the official descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

Paragraphing is attempted, but internal paragraph structure lacks clear logical progression. The writer relies heavily on repetitive transitional phrases such as 'On the other hand' and 'so I think' to link disjointed ideas rather than establishing a smooth, flowing argument. Furthermore, referencing is frequently unclear, and sentences often drift off topic or repeat previously stated points, such as the duplicated conclusion in the final paragraph. There is a noticeable lack of effective cohesive devices, resulting in an inadequate overall organization that stalls the reading experience. This performance aligns with Band 4.5 to 5.0 descriptors, warranting a score of 5.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and frequently repetitive, relying on terms like 'big cities', 'residence', 'opportunities', and 'low budget'. There are frequent word-formation errors and inaccurate collocations, such as 'produce tall apartment complex', 'house society', and 'enoiugh home'. While the student attempts less common lexical items, these attempts are marred by spelling and usage errors, such as 'bussiness', 'appartment', and 'moden'. Although the intended meaning can generally be deciphered, the lexical range is narrow and insufficient to support precision or flexibility. This reflects the characteristics of Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The text displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, heavily relying on simple sentences and repetitive clause patterns linked by coordinating conjunctions like 'so'. When the writer attempts more complex structures, they are frequently faulty, leading to numerous grammatical errors, missing articles, incorrect pluralisation, and poor subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'many people is travel for big cities opportunies', 'they have many opportunies produce government'). Punctuation is also erratic, with missing spaces after periods and unnecessary comma splices. Because frequent errors cause persistent difficulty for the reader, the grammar performance sits firmly at Band 4.5, rounded to 5.0.
