Student answer (Band 5.5)

Population is constantly increasing over the past few decades and it has rises many problems with it such as, in rural areas there are not enough resources to provide facilites as big hospitals, well education system and better living standard. so to achieve that people migrate from rural areas to urban cites and as we know that in urban areas the population is even more

According to me, Big appartments is a best way to provide homes in cites. where we do not have enough space to build now houses or residentional areas. The area which known as Lahore is Pakistan's most imporant and busiest City because of its well education system also it has very big hospitals. in short, the quality of life is better in this city. there are enormous people who shifted every year from rural area to big cities just for the sake of education and job opportunities so it will be a good option for them living in apartment through this they will not have any worries about residency and they can able to get basic household things from market since there are many big stores and shops availble to buy things.

on the contrary, there are some people who think living in the appartments or such in big buildings could cost you more because their rents are so high and not everyone can afford. Big apartments usually on that sites which are very expensive and their rent may be more than from their salaries

to conclude, Apartments can playing a critical role to control the population along with that it is helpful for some people who are having just short trip and they had require a neat place where they live comfortably with their family.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt regarding whether tall apartment blocks are the best way to provide enough homes in large cities. The writer presents a clear position that they agree, supported by reasons related to rural-to-urban migration and lack of space. However, some ideas are under-developed and generalisations are made without deep elaboration, such as the brief mentions of Lahore and rental costs. The conclusion is also somewhat disjointed, stating apartments are helpful for people on a short trip rather than focusing primarily on long-term housing solutions. Overall, all parts of the task are addressed, placing the response solidly at Band 6.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a coherent overall arrangement, and the writer attempts to divide ideas into paragraphs. However, paragraphing is somewhat irregular, and sentence boundaries are frequently blurred by missing capitalization, run-on sentences, and missing full stops (e.g., starting sentences with lowercase letters like 'so to achieve that' and 'according to me'). Cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical or inadequate, as seen in transitions like 'in short' and 'on the contrary', which do not always logically bridge the underlying arguments smoothly. Referencing can also be unclear, such as 'the area which known as Lahore'. These cohesion issues place the response at Band 5.5, rounding to 5.5.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, with attempts at less common items such as 'resources', 'facilites', 'migrate', and 'opportunities'. However, there are numerous word choice and spelling errors throughout the text, including 'rises' instead of 'raises', 'appartments', 'cites', 'imporant', 'availble', and 'residentional'. These errors occasionally impede smooth reading, though the general meaning remains understandable. Phrasing is often simplistic or translated awkwardly, such as 'for the sake of education and job opportunities so it will be a good option'. This lexical control fits the Band 5 descriptor.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but control over grammar and punctuation is weak. There are frequent errors in verb forms, tense consistency, and modal usage, such as 'it has rises many problems', 'they can able to get', and 'Apartments can playing a critical role'. Punctuation is severely neglected, with long run-on sentences joined by commas instead of proper conjunctions or full stops, and many sentences failing to begin with capital letters. While some structures are formed correctly, the density of grammatical errors causes noticeable difficulty for the reader, aligning with Band 5.
