Student answer (Band 5.0)

The living area is one of the most important issue for humans. The population is increasing day by day in the world and this issue seeks a lot of attention. In the villages there are big houses built for this purpose but in the cities this is a great issue as the area is less in cities to live in. To manage this issue in cities the large blocks are built.

Firstly, there is a need to resolve the issue of building houses for living purpose. And to solve this issue there is a small area in cities as the cities are filled with industrial areas. But the living houses are very small and less in cities as compared to villages.

Secondly, to provide the enough homes to the citizens is the most common and real matter to be solved and for this purpose the homes in large cities are built tall and long appartments along with blocks. The blocks are built in that ways as they build tall apartments in the blocks filled with the basic necessities of life.

And this is considered the best way to provide enough space for home usage. As for the purpose of gaining the land for living the forests near the cities are cut down which is a type of deforestation. This cut down is causing the environmental pollution which has a bad impact on the human life as well as is a great problem for the habitat of the animal and plant species.

So the conclusion is that to decrease the deforestation and making a good environment to live in there is the only way to stop deforestation. And this can only be done by using the domestic area more widely and building it in the form of flats and blocks. These blocks will be built tall and high in the form of appartments .

Only by this way the environment should kept clean and safe to live in. By implementing the given ideas the earth will be make possible to live in.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The student addresses the prompt regarding whether building tall apartment blocks is the best way to provide enough homes in large cities. A position is presented, arguing that tall apartment blocks are necessary to provide adequate housing and simultaneously curb environmental issues such as deforestation. However, the development of ideas is limited and repetitive throughout the body paragraphs. For example, the point about cities having less area due to industrial zones is repeated without much extension, and the discussion on deforestation, while relevant, wanders slightly into broader ecological consequences rather than focusing squarely on urban housing solutions. Therefore, the task response is partially developed and reflects the descriptors for Band 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response shows some basic organisation, utilizing sequential markers such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'So the conclusion is that'. However, paragraphing is somewhat irregular and ideas lack a clear overall progression. For instance, the transition between housing needs and deforestation feels abrupt, and cohesive devices are often repetitive or inaccurate, such as 'And this is considered the best way...' starting new sentences frequently. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, as seen in phrases like 'The blocks are built in that ways as they build tall apartments...'. These limitations in logical flow and cohesion place the response firmly at Band 5.0.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The student demonstrates a limited but minimally adequate range of vocabulary suitable for discussing urbanization and housing. Words like 'population', 'industrial areas', and 'deforestation' are used correctly. However, there are noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'living area is one of the most important issue' (instead of 'issues'), 'living houses' (instead of 'residential houses'), and repeated misspellings or awkward phrasings like 'appartments' and 'for home usage'. While the vocabulary allows the writer to convey a basic message, these frequent errors cause some difficulty for the reader and align with a Band 5.0 score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but control over grammar is weak. There are frequent errors in verb tense, subject-verb agreement, and article usage, such as 'the area is less in cities' and 'the earth will be make possible to live in'. Passive voice constructions are awkwardly handled, as in 'the environment should kept clean'. Furthermore, punctuation and phrasing errors frequently impede smooth reading. Because complex sentences are often faulty and errors occur consistently throughout the text, the performance corresponds to a Band 5.0.
