Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is a widespread belief that tall buildings can provide a lot of homes for people in large cities, which are densely populated. In my view, I completely agree with the statement because tall buildings have a number of rooms or apartments for people, which provide several benefits to the environment and society.
To begin with, high-rise buildings have many significant effects for the environent. The building which is tall in size have a number of residence unit, thus people stop creating more houses by cutting forests. Which gives us more empty place to plant more trees and later we can be safe from climate change. For example, country like Bangladesh, many people lives in slums and pollutes the environment by thowing their westage everywhere. Therefore, many people loses their life and suffer from numerous health diseases. Whereas, people who lives in high blocks apartment follow the rules and put their trush in dustbin and also maintain hyzine.
Although, building tall apartments can provide homes for peope, it creates strong bonding between people and encouraged them to be more socialized. Many family lives in a high rise building and they belongs from different city or states, which contributes to cultural exchange. For instance, people celebrates their occations together and get in touch with each others. Even if a member of a family get sick or in any emergencies they easily asked for help from their neighbour. In addition, high rise buildings have several facilites such as long term livability, services like schools and hospitals, most importantly affordability.
In conclusion, tall buildings provide people with a lot of services and also contributes to the society with diverse cultures, considerably improves the environment. In my opinion, I believe that building high-rise blocks apartment is better for people living.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task and presents a clear position throughout. The writer agrees that tall apartment blocks are the best way to provide housing, supporting this with reasons related to environmental preservation and social benefits. Ideas are extended, such as the example of Bangladesh regarding slum conditions and pollution, though some points tend to overgeneralise or lack rigorous depth. For instance, the link between high-rise living and hygiene or social bonding is stated rather than fully explored. Nevertheless, the position is well-maintained from the introduction through to the conclusion, satisfying the main requirements for a Band 6.5 or 7.0 descriptor. Overall, the task is answered adequately with a clear stance.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay displays a logical overall organisation with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Transitional markers such as 'To begin with', 'Although', and 'In conclusion' are employed to guide the reader through the text. However, paragraphing and cohesive devices reveal some mechanical usage and occasional awkwardness, such as the transition into the third paragraph starting with 'Although, building tall apartments can provide homes...'. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the internal progression within paragraphs occasionally falters due to abrupt shifts in ideas, such as moving from social bonding directly to school and hospital facilities. These features align closely with the Band 6 descriptors.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common lexical items such as 'densely populated', 'cultural exchange', and 'affordability'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'environent', 'residence unit' instead of 'residential units', 'thowing', 'westage' instead of 'waste', 'trush' instead of 'trash', and 'hyzine' instead of 'hygiene'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they restrict the lexical score to a Band 5.5 or 6.0 because the inaccuracies in spelling and word collocation are frequent enough to draw attention.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some variety in structure with relative clauses and conditional-like constructions (e.g., 'Even if a member of a family get sick...'). However, grammatical accuracy is weak, with frequent errors in subject-verb agreement and pluralisation, such as 'many people lives', 'many people loses their life', 'many family lives', and 'they belongs'. Punctuation and article usage also show persistent slips. Because these errors occur frequently throughout the response, the grammar profile fits comfortably at Band 5.0, where errors can cause some difficulty for the reader.
