Student answer (Band 5.5)
I do agree about the statement that the best way to provide enough homes in large cities is to build tall apartment blocks .Because separate housing in large cities are much more expensive as human population in large cities is increasing drastically due to the advantages large cities provide such as better job opportunities and lifestyle than smaller cities and that leads to the over population in the larger cities leading to the issue of homes where people are unable to find homes for themselves and if they do find they end up paying hefty amount for it .It also provide one advantage and that is that it safes the land and keep the area more structured and that can also solves problems for humans to have their homes in the more budget friendly way.People can socialize with other people than those who resided in separate homes as; in tall apartment blocks people do socialize easily and can have more friendly and openness towards their neighbours than those people who live in separate land.
One of the example is of Turkiye,Istanbul where tall apartment block is more commonly provided due to over population and smaller families as people tends to live separately after the age of 18 and often end up getting married leaving their separate homes and prefering to reside in tall apartment blocks as it can be much cheaper and more easy way to socialize with the same age group. One advantage was that people who resided in the tall apartment blocks had the best view of their town due to high rise buildings that provides tall apartment blocks and each apartment block has their own amanities such has pool, gym ,suana etc leading to better lifestyle and time saving for the people who resided in the tall apartment blocks. This way there was enough homes to provide for the families and people also.
One other example is of Singapore , Singapore consist mostly of tall apartment blocks because overpopulation became the biggest issue so the government decided to plan an infrastructure that provided enough homes in large cities by building tall aparment block and each block having same square meter.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the extent to which the writer agrees that building tall apartment blocks is the best way to provide homes in large cities. A clear position is stated at the beginning, supported by arguments regarding land-saving, socialization, and cost-efficiency. Examples are provided from Istanbul and Singapore to illustrate the points. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive, particularly in the first paragraph where a single massive, run-on sentence attempts to bundle multiple arguments together without sufficient expansion. While all parts of the task are addressed, the depth of extension places this response comfortably at Band 6.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement and attempts to organize ideas into paragraphs. However, paragraphing is problematic; the first body paragraph consists of one extremely long, continuous sentence that lacks internal punctuation boundaries and clear transitions. Furthermore, cohesive devices are sometimes faulty or mechanical. For example, phrases like 'One of the example is' and 'One other example is' show basic referencing, and the transitional flow between clauses is heavily hindered by run-on structures. Paragraphing needs to be managed more effectively to separate distinct ideas and ensure logical progression throughout the text, leading to a Band 5.5 score.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully using terms such as 'drastically', 'over population', 'budget friendly', and 'infrastructure'. There are, however, noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and collocation. Examples include 'safes the land' instead of 'saves land', 'hefty amount' instead of 'a hefty amount', 'suana' instead of 'sauna', and 'aparment' instead of 'apartment'. Additionally, vocabulary is sometimes repeated, such as the frequent reuse of 'tall apartment blocks' and 'large cities'. These errors do not seriously impede overall communication, but they restrict the lexical score to Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but control over complex structures is weak. The first paragraph relies on an extremely long, poorly punctuated run-on sentence featuring multiple subordinate clauses strung together with conjunctions like 'and' and 'where', creating severe structural strain. There are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('Singapore consist mostly', 'each block having'), missing articles ('One of the example'), and punctuation failures. While simpler structures are often correct, the high frequency of errors in complex sentences and structural control issues place this response at Band 5.0.
